Desi, good point bro. Speaking of Stephon's arrogance, he does have a great one-on-one game and incredible offensive talent, but as a point guard, he is horrible in terms of decision making. He wanted Cheaney out, and got what he wanted. So, what is his excuse now. We have been waiting since '95 to see him grow, but he is the same exact player coming into the league.

Speaking of point guards, I was watching some old NBA games, and I was amazed at the play of Mark Price. He was not even the best point guard in the league at the time, but he certainly would be the best point guard if he was around today. The man could pull-up on the dime and nail a 3-pt shot as if it were a layup. His speed was incredible and his cross over was breaking ankles left and right.

Mark was just one of the many back then: Magic, Stockton, Isiah, KJ, Tim, Mark Jackson, Dennis Johnson, and others. It is a shame what happened to the game, especially at the point guard spot. Kidd was great, Chauncey is nice, and so is Nash, but it cannot compare to the late 80s/early 90s.

Salam,

Rudy

a winning record at this point of the season when teams have barely played any games is completely misleading. a team could have lost 4 and won 3 that doesnt correspond to a bad record. Also ANYBODY that plays the lousy toronto raptors (0-8) will have a bad winning percentage of opposing teams wins and losses added. its more like 21-33 anyway even with the toronto raptors losses added in. do the math. take away the raptors and its almost 0.500 record of opposing teams. Heat's totals of opposing teams are 33-30 almost 0.500.....i'd call that EVEN.

Im not gonna give up on Detroit. I think they have what it takes to go to the finals, but id pick the pacers over them and a healthy heat team (pacers are my pick for the east). Flip is not a proven playoff coach, and sayin that LB accomplished nothing before Det. is insane. Anybody who can coach the clippers to the playoffs is big in my books, and what he did wiht NJ, Indiana, and PHilly was awesome. His biggest accomplishment to me was actually convincing me (and im sure many of you as well) that ERIC SNOW is a servicebale and solid PG. We all know thats not true...

salam,
I just think detroit players are not given any credit for being really good (not superstars). thats what adds to their motivation each year..lol...we keep changing coaches and they keep coming through. 7-0 now. and yeah we'll see how they do when the real test comes in texas.

Syed, salam. Now let us not compare Flip to Larry! Larry is the only coach to win the NCAA title and the NBA title. Unlike Flip, he took the Pacers to the Conference Finals numerous times. He brought out the best in a team that was always underestimated.

He finally got a good team in the Pistons, and you saw what happened. Flip on the other hand is another Paul Westpaul: Great records during the regular season, and zilch during the post season.

Then again, let us wait and see. Salam all.

Salam all,

I am saying Detroit will be gone in the second round this year. As for last year, I knew it would be them or the Heat in the East.

People, I am not a die hard Heat fan. Even since MJ and John Stockton left, I really do not like any particular team. However, Dwayne shows promise, so the Heat would be my favorite going into the playoffs. If they loose, so be it.

As for Detroit, their coach, Flip Saunders will get them into the playoffs with a good record. However, they will only last to the second round. Flip is not Larry Brown. Look for the Pacers (if healthy) to finish them off if they ever meet.

Remember, these are only predictions. Feel free to disagree, but do not take it personal fellow sport fans. Anyway, lets stick to our teams and see what happens in the playoffs. I hope all of you enjoy the NBA season :o)

Salam and take care all,

Rudy

I think the Heat have to prove that their so-called "new and improved" lineup will work before you anoint them the NBA champs. I think their main weakness will be three-point shooting (not really sure why they let Damon Jones walk). J-Will and Walker sure like to take the threes, but historically are not exactly sharpshooters. Obviously, the Heat have talent - Wade is amazing, Shaq is still the most dominant player when healthy, Haslem is an excellent role player, and their bench (Mourning has been a monster, Posey's a good fit). I'm not sold on Walker and J-Will though. They may spell the doom for Miami. Detroit and San Antonio are more balanced and have no real weaknesses. They are still the teams to beat. Also, it seems like people sleep on Detroit every year and they should have proved otherwise the last two years- I think Detroit is still the team to beat in the East.

Salam. Lets hope Wade stays healthy and Shaq can stay healthy through the playoffs. The Heat are my team as well. Detroit is done; it is not even a debate about Detroit since they will get eliminated in the first or second round. If the Heat stay healthy, it will be the Heat and Spurs in the Finals. Salam.
