Like a rained out game?


The May 6th event was fun, but only for the people who showed up. Cafe Latte played host to 3 (+1) Naseebites. There was lively conversation and laughter, along with peripheral musing on the overwhelming absenteeism. Many had expressed interest, but few walked the walk.

It could be that we're not very enthusiastic about meeting as a group, but that's cynical. I think we just haven't been good planners. Maybe we need to truly invite more opinions and create a kind of rsvp system. It's up to everyone here to make this village work. After all, isn't that what the power of the internet is supposed to be about (in a tangential, "getting people together" kind of way)?

Hi Everyone,

Just took a look at the Walker's and the Cedar Cultural Center's calendars....looks like 2 lame ducks until July.

I've taken on the challenge and will totally live up to it!

Let's plan on the Willy Wonka thing definitely, but that's not until July 15...just saw an ad yesterday. I'll look at what's going on at the Walker for the next couple weeks.

Taylor's Falls is a lot of fun. Really great hiking trails for those who hike.

Hey Heidi -- Don't worry! You were missed, but it will be cool to see you at the next one. I love Johnny Depp and would totally be up for Willy Wonka and/or the Walker. Mayve you can throw out some dates etc. Aurvoir's plan for Taylor's Falls sounds kind of fun if you guys have been following that one.

Virt -- it looks like you have been placing alerts all over -- I also responded on the other journal that I can recommend a good immigration attorney to you if you'd like.

I'm totally up to making sure we have an event, but what's Virt's idea? It says we're not connected so I can't read his/her comments. Maybe he/she has a better idea than me...

I write to you with my ears down, belly to the ground and tail between my legs...yes, I said that I would be there and didn't show. I know, I know. What happened is that I got home and fell asleep early. I recognize it's a lame excuse and I didn't call or email. I swear, I was just exhausted. So to make things right, I was thinking of a get together. If anyone's heard, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" is getting re-made and will be released at the IMAX. I'm not sure on a date yet, but I thought that would be fun. OR if you haven't heard, the new Walker has re-opened and it might be fun to catch an event there. Any thoughts?

Hey I know a desi dude who plays an acoustic guitar and sings quite well ...maybe we can have a small scale musical evening cum get together which has more flavor then meeting up at an up scale coffee shop.

Sharjeel -- The Bhangra thing sounds fun for you young and/or hip folks (as opposed to "boudi's" like myself). If anyone goes, let us know how it goes.

Virt -- you seem to have alot of ideas and enthusiasm. Why don't you initiate a plan?

Sorry to hear about large absentees, must be a big disappointment, I agree with Anwar's proposal that there should be some sort of rsvp system or show of hands, although even then all may still not be able to attend (unforseen emergencies) but there would not and should not be too many absentees.

Let's see how it goes for next time.

Well put Anwar! Although thanks to the 8-9 folks who sent me nice e-mails on Friday to let me know they wouldn't be able to make it (most of whom also said they really would like to come to a future get-together and meet other folks in the village -- there appears to be alot of enthusiasm!). For others who said or implied that they would come but didn't (eh em Virt), there were empty spots for you at the table. Regardless, those of us who were there enjoyed our dessert and company! For those of you who haven't met Anwar -- he's hilarious and fabulous company. I recommend meeting him.
