Listening to Women

Sat Aug 6, 7:29 PM ET

LONDON (AFP) - Men who are accused of never listening by women now have an excuse -- women's voices are more difficult for men to listen to than other men's, a report said.

The Daily Mail, quoting findings published in the specialist magazine, NeuroImage, said researchers at Sheffield university in northern England discovered startling differences in the way the brain responds to male and female sounds.

Men deciphered female voices using the auditory part of the brain that processes music, while male voices engaged a simpler mechanism, it said.

The Mail quoted researcher Michael Hunter as saying, "The female voice is actually more complex than the male voice, due to differences in the size and shape of the vocal cords and larynx between men and women, and also due to women having greater natural 'melody' in their voices.

"This causes a more complex range of sound frequencies than in a male voice."

The findings may help explain why people suffering hallucinations usually hear male voices, the report added, as the brain may find it much harder to conjure up a false female voice accurately than a false male voice.

So who's fault is it now ladies? Science does not lie :P

Naffouri, celebration is one of the ways to thank god for another healthy year and for things we've accomplished so far.... and more to come. so after WE didn't manage to survive... it's all god's well.
u see how I turned this all religious on you now lol
how about that for a reason?

WCS, it's not about being sofity or not. It's just not a big deal for us. I really don't care if people celebrated my bday or not! Oh, and anniversaries are shared by both the husband and wife. The husband just doesn't care much about it :P.

except of course caarabguy's bday. His is most important! hehe.

Seriously though...what are we celebrating with a birthday/annivisary? The fact that we managed to survive one more year?

lily, no, I would not be ashamed if I did remember all birthdays and whatnot. Too bad I actually am not. Although I might be sensative...

speaking of which, here is a joke... what is "hassas" in english? sensitive. What is "hashash"? Shenshitive. :)

Nsw1970, I hear you loud and clear!

I don't buy it. Men only listen for one thing... once they lock a girl down, they stop listening. It's my little theory.... see how closely a guy listens when he's interested in a girl, he can recite her words from beginning to end. Once he's GOT THE GIRL...khallas it's like a woman is talking to a brick wall.

well, basel, ofcourse women care more about stuff like this, but i bet you that some men, and that's quite a handful, care too....although most of them might not admit it...and i'm guessing you're amongst those sensitive ones!!! :P ther'e snothing to be ashamed of,basel!! (H)

forgot what muslim_sista? :P

yeah we do forget. But that's only because women's voices are like songs, you hear them, enjoy them, but never seem to remember the lyrics!
