Living with the in-laws...

On behalf of Asad, I was wondering what are you views of living with the in-laws?

I think its each to their own really...

Personally I'd rather not but if the option was given, I would consider depending on the circumstances and hope it would be short term.

What if they tied you up and wouldn't let you out? Suppose they kept the phone just out of your reach so even though you could touch it, you couldn't dial 999? (An ironical twist lets you dial 911, but what use is that in the UK?) What if they swore each other to secrecy (on pain of death) so that no one was going to squeal and get help for you? What if your mother-in-law was really evil and only fed you the leftover scraps from the dinner table? What if your husband just went along with it because he was a real mummy's boy and scared sh*t of his dad? Well, you'd be f*cked, wouldn't you? I guess you'd know they weren't very nice people, but not much you could do to move out.

id like to marry a woman who doesnt have parents or brothers or sisters.

she'll love my mum. everyone does. i have friends who call up and spend ages on the phone with her and then suddenly remember they called to speak to me. it's hell having a mum who's more popular than you...

SAHADAT IF SHE IS OLD AND SICK,,, THEN I HAVE TO FIND A CARER FOR HER OR THINK ABOUT A NURSING HOME SO SHE HAS SOMEONE TO LOOK AFTER HER 24 HOURS,,,,,,,
EVEN IF SHE WASN'T MY MOTHER IN LAW AND SOMEONE WANTED OR NEEDED MY HELP,,,, I THINK I WOULD HELP THEM!!!

BUT DON'T FORGET I AM THE ONLY CHILD, SO MY PRIORITIES WILL ALSO LIE ON LOOKING AFTER MY OWN MOTHER TOO!!!!!

Chotipagli, thanx!

The reason i asked was because, someone i know would not marry this guy she met because she didn't like his parents, even though she said he was ok!

Should people not treat their in-laws as their own parents - i know not an easy thing to do, but something that should be done and it would make life easier.

Either way, it is a woman's right to ask for her own house.

I wouldn't really mind either way as long as we had privacy, wud depend on the situation too... However, if my hubby was an only son, or if his bro's were gona move out leaving the parents all alone, i would definitely urge that we live with his parents and look after them, as I wouldn't like the thought of them being all alone and having to fend for themselves as they grow older...

parents do loads for us, and I think they deserve the respect of being looked after in return when they need it the most... after all, the in-laws will have earnt this right by having given birth to and raised the man of my dreams!

what ever i coudent care, my wife could stay at mine all the time, she will love my mum to bits, she's just to kool, no where near evil like some stories you read about mother in laws, as for the wifes mum, she wouldent dare say anything to me, my shadow will cover her and her husband...but i got my set of cribs so its all kool..

Living with inlaws would not be my ideal, I would really like my privacy. If I did live with them it wouldn't be for very long and would depend on the situation. I would say to my partner that I wouldn't mind taking care of his parents in their old age as thats something I want to do for my mother, his parent would be like my parents...if I get on with them that is.
