London from an American's view

No, I don't live in London, however I wish I did. My first trip to London was in December 2001 with my sisters. It was a vacation that changed my life. I fell in love with the city. I kept going back everytime I would get time off from work. There is just something captivating about this city. The fusion of modernity and historical charm all mashed together everywhere you go. Fleet Street, Kensington Gardens, Trafalgar Square, London Bridge.

Each time I have gone, I always get on the Big Bus Tour and never get time to finish it. I keep hopping off to check out places. The desi food is so delicious! The people walking around are the best dressed I've ever seen and the manners displayed are impeccable down to the attendants working in the tube stations.

I loved taking day trips outside of London as well. I have a great interest in reading about British royalty. I'm a die hard Diana fan. And the accent.......

Since I've gotten married, I haven't had a chance to go back. Something always seems to come up. I hope to come back soon. Hopefully next year and perhaps by then the pound may be easier on my dollar.

You are so lucky to be living there. My only regret is not doing a year abroad in college so I could live there for 1 year.

forgetyou londonpunk! you're a tease! Ms. JZSwank, I've added a favorable testimonial for your lovely website, jzswank.com. Does this mean i'll get free samples of 'blue clover' and 'hot date'? Even 'pure heaven' would be fine...

Yes, I do take advantage to enjoy London's great spots over the weekends. I LOVE to go to the VAM in South Kensington and wander around in Westminster during a busy workday and watch business-people.

Its nice to hear such nice comments about london. Like any big western city london has its good and bad points. It definitely has alot to offer but I dont think local people take advantage of the many things on offer as much as the tourists do. But from my experience thats a similar story around the world.

I can't help but wonder, do you as Londoners actually take advantage of seeing everything (historical places, castles, etc.) that people who come from miles away do?

Get your hubby to bring you here for a long holiday :o) London is a beautiful place to be. Can't wait for the summer! Love going to the embankment and the Parks particularly around that time of year.
