Long distance relationships
Do you think long distance relationships can work? Why or why not? Should people get into long distance relationships or is it better to just stay local?
I don't think that you should think of logistics when it comes to finding the 'right' person for you because that person can be anywhere in the world and the chances of the PERFECT person for YOU being in your town is not that high...unless you are lucky, and I really don't think I"m THAT lucky :P
As long as the intention of both parties is PURE......then definitely it WILL work because where there is a WILL, there is a WAY.
why cant we have a normal relationship ...as a desi we dont have normal ones ..but it is ok to have longgggg distance ones ...like is that normal????? :(
for those seriously interested and involved, it's a bi*ch.
personally, i wouldnt be able to do it. i'd like to personally witness the partner's nuances and idiosyncrasies. i feel there's just so much one can describe himself/herself over the phone or in emails. for example, if the guy goes on saying how generous he is (him thinking that he is), but when you hang out with him in person, you see otherwise. or if a girl claims she's oh-so-confident, but hanging out in person, you see that she's super insecure! heLLoo!
im not saying these folks are fibbing or lying, it's just a matter of perception. so for me, i have to see it for myself. :)
I personally feel both people have to put effort in calling each other and making time to see each other You need to put more effort in a long distance relationship (when I say long distance it could be another country or another state/province). Also you need to discuss early on about whether you or your partner will be willing to relocate. There is no point in being in a long distance relationship if you don't agree on a future. I don't think long distance relationships are for everyone.
I was seeing my husband for just over 4 yrs prior to getting married and he lived jus over 300 miles away. No doubt it was tough at times BUT in the end it all worked out :D
One of my best friends who resides in the states is currently seeing one of husband's best friends.....they actually met at our wedding.
He lives here in the UK and they take it in turn to fly over to see each other every month.....its now been almost 6 months see they been 'seeing each other'.
I think long distance relationships CAN work, but it is very hard. (The relationship should start as local though.) If one or both are not willing to put in the time, $, effort, etc to try to ensure that the relationship will work or if there is no realistic future where the two will once again be near each other, then there is no point in trying. If the 'long distance' is temporary, then yes
