Long or Short??

My wife has very dark hair almost to her waist. Her hair is very fine and soft, and therefore doesn't stay put in a pony tail for very long or in a bun.

She wants to cut it because she saying it's getting difficult to manage and takes long to dry.( She doesn't use a hair dryer except when going out because it dries her fine soft hair.) Plus, she says since she is only 5'4, longer hair makes her look shorter.

But I like her hair long becoz it frames her face, she get lots of compliments on it, and it's really feminine. In the summer when she sits in the sun it gets nice auburn highlights. Although her hair grows really fast, i would not be happy to see her chop it off...And no offense to anyone, but i think short hair looks artificial and boyish on her. her face is rather small so she tends to look a like a school boy with it cut short.

What do you think? Does long hair look better or short, layered, styled hair??

Hair should be worn to appease the eyes. Depending on ur face structure. I personally have long hair and enjoy it immensely. You can easily have shoulder length hair and still give the illusion of longer hair through layers in the back.

I agree with the other posters about this- don't chop it but definitely shorter than waist length. It will still look very feminine!

Its sweet that you see her beautiful in any light but from the way you describe her she would look very good with layers that are blended together or even just face framing layers.

Good luck and hair grows so even a mistake is okay!

i agree with snakesss....
i can understand what you mean by the fine and silky hair...
best is to keep it mid back length....and angle it and layer it with many layers in frequent intervals and blended into one another.......and smaller ones around the face area ....and longer layers going to the back of the hair....

it frames it really nice....she can do many thing with it....
easier to manage then the waist length...believe me....

fine hair is hard to manage....
also use volumizing shampoo and conditioner to add some body....
once her hair is layered ....she can even curl the ends slightly and the framing of her face will look beautiful..

long/short hair...its about how you shape it to your face to enhance or take away the years on your face....

also....skin and other factors add to the aging or take away not just hair...so its a package to work on....in total...

good luck to your wife...

hey..glad you see your wife in this light..but she may have other concerns..we women always stress about getting older...don't know enough about the less innocent part in reference to all of humanity, so can't comment on it! Good luck!

thanks snakess but she doesn't have to worry about being aged..she's got the face and soul of a little angel in my eyes. :) funny how the less innocent a person is the more it shows on their face but the more innocent, they retain physical innocence even on their faces...

I would decide on a happy compromise for both of you. She should cut it cause waist length hair truly is very difficult to manage especially if its fine. Also very long hair tends to age women older then 20s. Why can't she cut it to about shoulder length with soft layers around her face? This way she can highlight/frame her face (cause its small) and yet have more manageable hair. You don't have to go to extremes with super long to super short! She should also ask her hairdresser what style would suit her best. If she can, since she is totally changing her style she should go to someone who has very good training and experienced.
