Yeah i do agree we come up with some really unrealistic expectations... i think we just have to realize that people are people and when u find someone u like and she makes u happy go for it... u never know if u dont try... and dont give up unless she tells u that its over! I agree i think people pay more attention to what the guy does rather what type of a person he is... which really sucks because money only goes so far!

When eating chocolate your body released the same hormones as when you're in loveeeeee :)

Nicely put, Reagents. Very nicely put. I think the real problem is that we all have unrealistic expectations. I think people now a days don't love someone for who that person is but who they want that person to be. Throw into that mix unrealistic expectations and an unwillingness to compromise on anything (my way or the highway attitude) and thats the end of that. I don't know if we personally complicate things. I think its just the world around us has changed. We just don't have the same priorities that we used to. Everything is material now. What's inside a person hardly matter as long as the labels they are wearing are acceptable. Its a shame.

i gave up chasing love a couple of months ago... and man it has been a much nicer feeling...i know for a fact I will find what i want...only maybe it won't be in the timelines or in the package i THINK i want... but funny thing is the more i have become more comfortable in my single skin... the more it started to "rain men"... so far not the ONE... but some damned nice people... so good riddance desperation... even my family has chilled now:)

Sabahatk, thats pretty much it!!! If ur happy being who ur and when ur with that special person and she makes u feel that u dont have to do anything or change anything about urself ... that to me is love. I think we are always looking/searching for that one person who makes us complete and to give up and run away unless she tells u that there is no hope (when u find her) then u should do whatever it takes to make it work. The difficult part is to find that "one" special person... in my case I know I have found her... holding on to her seems to be the most difficult task.... but then again its a challenge I am willing to take.

would someone please tell me what true love is?

I still wonder if what they call.."true love" really exists. I think that most people LEARN to love one another. Take my parents for example..if they had really saw eachother only once before their marriage then how could they honestly say that they really loved eachother? How can you love somebody you barely know? I think over time your love and effection for one another will start to grow. Maybe we single girls are so jaded because we've never been in a relationship long enough to feel the effects.

Hey, my ami always told me when I was growing up to never chase boys. She said that the best ones would come to me. :)

LOL. I'm not looking. I'm just helping other people look. But, I've had conversations with a few of these folks for whom I'm looking, and they're not all that very hopeful. I'm their last resort.

But it doesn't happen for everyone. That's just a fact of life, guys.

Supergirl, you got that one right! We make everything so much harder than it has to be a lot of the time. And we expect so much from the person we love. We ought to just love that person, never expecting anything in return and don't depend on anyone but ourselves.

Love? I was just figuring I need to become a lesbian 'cause men only want sex. Love doesn't seem to be in their vocabulary.

Loving someone is simple. But people make it harder everyday. Demands and wants increase and at times we need to jump out of lala land :)

Agreed, Reagents. But is it that simple? Is that all?

To give up and walk away from something u really desire is a sign of weakness!

Love is being with someone u can be yourself with...

LOL! As much as I may want to sometimes, I don't think I will (can!) ever give up my quest for love. I believe that we need to re-evaluate what our concept of love is. All of this unrealistic portrayal of love in the movies/on tv (i.e. romantic comedies, which I really can't stand) give us such an incorrect impression of what love is. What is love then, you may ask? I have no idea. lol. Any thoughts from anyone else on that timeless question?
