Looking for licensing information in Canada

Hi!

I am looking for licensing information for becoming a Financial Planner/Analyst in Canada, equivalent stuff to series 6, life and health over here in the US. I'll be moving to Toronto in few months and was wondering if I could get these licenses out of the way. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Ahmed

The equivalent to the Series 7 & 63 in Canada is the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) & Conduct Practices Handbook (CPH). More info available at csi.ca

Series 6 equivalent is The Canadian Investment Funds Course (CIFC). More info available at ific.ca.

I recommend doing the CSC over the CIFC. If you do the CSC, it also includes the CIFC. So essentially you will have both licences by doing the CSC. The CSC is also preferred over the CIFC by most companies.

To be a financial planner you need to complete Certified Financial Planner (CFP). More info available at ific.ca

Financial Analyst, I believe, is the same as in the US. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Hope this helps you out. Let me know if you need any more info. I dont check the villages as much so feel free to drop me an email with any questions.

Good Luck!
