Looking seriously vs. just safe sex

Thought I'd paste this conversation my friend (I'll call her Zara) and I had.. in case it covers any themes anyone else has encountered....

-- This guy I spoke to yesterday - he turned out to be weird.. he wanted to get 'over friendly' online.. then got hurt when I said buh bye

* Oh, do you get the feeling men want us to be more naive than we are

-- Maybe we're way too much educated and cannot fall in this trap

* I hope so - plus we dont have time for scaredy cats

-- I always give people benefit of the doubt, but they always prove me wrong and I never learn

* If our confidence scares people then good! but you can be too trusting

-- Well I'm not but try to be nice

* But if you come across as confident that will attract someone who is confident too

-- Um where are these people????

* But the more we try to display our manners or education, good upbringing, the more we fall into the trap of coming across as over nice

-- I've seen all the bitches get good partners, I want to take a course in "BITCHING 101". I've tried being nice with guys I meet

* And? Being proactive you mean

--Yup, and staying positive

* Well, confidence is wasted on lazy people, maybe they're looking for a shy wallflower who will fall for people like them. I guess there are 2 kinds of people, one are not worth bothering with

--Yeah

* and the gems.. hmm you are right. I'm not sure where they are

--some are total jerks

* no there are some nice ppl - maybe 50% (maybe less).. maybe men prefer bitches?

--face it, we won't find a nice desi.. better to just chat to people online.. besides, I believe in safe sex

* lol, well you found the best way to practice it.. across the atlantic..

-- I'm so satisfied...lol

* :D

(notice how our chat turned into something aimless.. & didn't actually come to any conclusions.........)

also agree.. a lot of people online are between relationships and simply looking for attention before they decide to start dating again

or they may have resigned themselves to being perennially single, and could be flirting while not wanting to follow up

absolutely, yehband but soo many people mistake what they read in phone conversations/ emails for adoration..

very easy to do since you can't actually see what the person is doing while they're typing/ talking (they could be looking bored/ killing time/ chatting to 4 ppl at once or sitting near their gf..)

maybe if the word submissive was replaced with accepting.. or .. sensitive.. or respectful.. i would be able to buy the argument.. :P

i think these are all traits the guy should display towards his partner as well...

hmm..you said " ...it means being an equal partner SOME of the time.."...then you said " a mother doesn't have to be submissive IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM" - -sure a mother doesn't HAVE to be submissive, but in order to be " an equal partner SOME of the time.." there would have to be some give somewhere. i.e. some form of submissiveness in SOME way shape or form. so, i sense a bit of confusion here. maybe im' wrong, correct me

no .. looks arent everything.. not top of my list...

personality/ character has to be nice.. whats the point of being with a cute guys with an attitude...

and not being a doormat doesnt mean being a man.. it means being an equal partner some of the time.. taking a step back some of the time, but being with a guy who is also gracious enough to do that once in a while

a mother doesnt have to be submissive in any way shape or form.. you can be confident and assertive without being masculine

then maybe you're looking for a not-so attractive guy perhaps..brute reality suggests if you want to move up the latter in terms of looks, if that's one of the main criterias you're aimin for in your "perfect guy," then you most likely will have to compromise somethin you wish not to compromise. otherwise, why would a good lookin guy want to go down the ladder(in terms of looks) and at the same time have to deal with a wife who wants to be the man of the house, basically..? doormat? no..no one said a husband and wife can't engage in productive, enlightening conversations. effective cohesiveness? i think so...let's think about the children and what their needs and wants are for a healthy upbringing. they don't need two fathers, they need a father and a mother..

Um ostentious, a woman should display 'submissive intellectual charm'??? how? we know what we like when it comes to our work/ friends/ hobbies..

yet men want us to come home and file away our confidence and go into doormat mode?

you can't be a submissive intellectual.. unless you read books but never talk about them... having a keen intellect can be synonymous with action, passion, and the courage to live the best life you can...

being submissive implies putting other people's needs first all the time, listening, nodding, agreeing and encouraging even when you don't mean it.. isn't that what mummies are for....

a nice mix of submissive intellectual charm from a woman would go a long way in attracting a guy. not just any guy mind you, but a good lookin guy..

fon, it's about women like us who are a bit too smart for their own good not being seen as good enough for certain men (mainly because we can't be fooled easily)

we're not saying most men are like this.. just a small loud minority.... nor are we generalising most women into the smart or dumb camp..

we have noticed though that certain cunning women seem to have more luck... being 'nice' doesn't pay.... are men put off by nice women?

is it about smart/confident/educated women/man vs dumb/shy/uneducated women/man?? *:

ok i'm kinda confused by the convo on the JE....didn't really see what the point was/is....however, having read the comments and the elaboration of what the JE is about...i still don't know what this is all about LOL :P

mila, i didn't say being educated is bad, it's that some people aren't looking for educated women (they are not easy prey).. being educated doesn't make you a threat.. unless the guy is insecure.. and your intelligence is going to stand in the way of his dating-like-no-tomorrow plans

also i don't think yehban means you when she says communication barriers.. she means the issues between men and women in general

I never said I am right about everything, these JE are here to expand our minds, and learn

Login to find out (July 14, 2005 at 9:16pm)
Because I may disagree with SOME of the content of the JE dosent mean I have mis understood anything, or that I am only listening/hearing or understand only what I want.
I dont disagree with Lab I think she has some great points, and there is some things I dont agree or feel I need to expand on from my view, I can only give you points from my experience.
Thats all....
