Lynden's Wish
Tuesday Night I went to my fav venue, London Jazz Cafe to see and evening of music presented for various charities on behalf of Lynden David Hall, a youn RNB artist most famous for his track "Sexy Cindrella"
Lynden is suffering for Hodgkinsons Lymphoma, a rare form of cancer and is seriously ill. This evening was to raise awarness of 2 charities:
1)ACLT the Afro Carribean Lukemia Trust
Please have a blood test at the Childrens ward, Hammersmith Hospital, Du Cane Road, North Acton, London NW10 on Saturday 19th to see if ur blood is compatible with a person looking for a donor. People of colour have a one in 5000 cnance of finding a donor, where a caucasian person has a one in 5 chance of finding a compatible donor. DJ Swing is currently suffering frm Lukemia. He recently found a donor after 7 years on the waiting list and had a successful bone marrow transplant last week. Inshallah He will get better soon.
2)Ray of Light - a charity that fullfills the wishes of terminally ill children by helping them meet their fav stars.
It was an excellent evening and artists were
Ms Dynamite
Omar
Don-E
Beverly Knight
Andrew Roachford
Shola Ama
DJs Diggz & Matt White
Courtney Pine
Also Introducing
Rosetta Lynch
Bev Tawiah
Beverly Knight has an excellent voice and such an energy about her. She proved she was multitalented by playing the piano too.
Omar, despite sounding like a hardcore cockney when he talks had a voice that tould melt a banshee. I loved his track and its been in my head since i heard it.
Tawiah, an unheard of, beautiful young lady with an even more beautiful voice had an excellent vocal range and such a passion. Although she isnt actually signed to a record label yet she definately should be. I was really touched by her voice.
Courntey Pine, some one who was not mentioned in the listings, was excellent. Those of you that dont know him, he is the best claranet player this side of the atlantic. He was brilliant.
Don E, I had never heard of this guy before but I loved him. There was something so cute and familar about him. His performance wasnt as polished as the others but he has a lovely voice and singing style. Hes young and very cute. I really liked the the track "Bustop" unfortunately he didnt manage to get the audience to sing with him despite trying lots of times, which must have been a bit embarassing for him.
The show ended with all the artists singing Sexy Cindrella. June Sarpong the presenter really made the show.
