Making War & Peace in Afghanistan


looking for information that i may not find in my search paths - basically i am interested in the distinction between the NATO and UN missions in Afghanistan - i thought some of you may find info i would not as we all have differing search methods

I'm not able to read the other comment posted so I might be repetitive here.

The U.N. mission chiefly focuses on delivering humanitarian relief. Although the NATO mission also includes this, its main focus is the 'campaign against terrorism'. This includes 'rooting out' (ie. searching for and killing) 'Taliban' members. The U.N. mandate does not incorporate this.

The UN mission is UNAMA (United Nations Assistance Mission to Afghanistan). I believe NATO took over from the SFOR (security forces ....) mission. If you do a search for UNAMA you will be able to find it on the web and then it should have a link to the nato mission. Hope this helps.
