Mangal Pandey

Anyone here seen the film Mangal Pandey? What did you think? What parts were close to historical accuracy based upon what you've studied in school?

Mangal Pandey is a sincere effort on the part of Ketan Mehta. Like the movie says, the story starts where facts and fiction meet and Ketan has never claimed it to be historically perfect. Whatever is known about Mangal Pandey is not substantial enough to make a full length feature film on him. Therefore, a lot of sub stories have been added. It is a good movie and deserves atleast one look.
Oh Darling Yeh hai India was a debacle as most of you would say, but it was a wonderful movie from where I see it. It was made in the "Tamasha" style of dramatics. His other movies, Maya Memsaab, Mirch Masala, Sardar and Hero Hiralal were all different in their feel and substance. He is a pathbreaking film director, producer and writer who has always attempted to take the less travelled path.

It was alright... not as good as I expected it to be!... I don't know any history about India so I couldnt tell you if it was historically correct...

Yes, I remember - Oh Darling Yeh Hai India was dreadful. I don't know what he was drinking or on when he made that film. It was a mess. I am sad to hear that it is not doing well in India. I thought it was a pretty decent film. From what I heard though it was breaking box office records...let me see what rediff is saying these days. It might be that it is making money but it is not a hit because there are no positive reviews of the film.
