Marrying for love???

I HAVE COME ACROSS SO MANY BEAUTIFUL WOMEN WHO ARE DIVORCED WITH CHILDREN,,,, MAKES ME WONDER,,WHO WOULD DIVORCE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL LOOKING GIRL WITH A PLEASANT PERSONALITY!!!!

BUT THEN I WONDER,,,, DO WE MARRY FOR THE WRONG REASONS????

MEN AND WOMEN MARRY AS THEY ARE IN LOVE,,, BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FALL OUT OF LOVE,, OR YOU START LOVING SOMEONE ELSE??

MEN AND WOMEN WHO MARRIED AS THEY THOUGHT THE PERSON THEY ARE MARRYING WOULD MAKE THEM A GOOD PARTNER AND HAVE THE ABILITY TO MAKE GOOD PARENTS,,,THOSE MARRIAGES ARE LESS LIKELY YO GET DIVORCED,,,

IS ISLAM IT TELLS US WE SHOULD MARRY SOMEONE WHO BELIEVES IN GOD AND FOLLOWS ISLAM AS THEY WOULD FOLLOW A CERTAIN LIFESTYLE OF DISCIPLINE AND UNDERSTANDING AND THOSE PEOPLE WOULD MAKE US GOOD HUSBANDS/WIFES????

THEN WHY DO WE KEEP MAKING THE SAME MISTAKES,,,,, DOES THIS ALSO EXPLAIN WHY OUR DIVORCE RATES ARE HIGH???

Well, let's see... I'm tall enough... not sure about how good looking but would vouch on being not scary... but the spark... damn, I knew I was missing something!!!
Re-assuring fact though is that with time, guys follow the wine example and can get nicer... ladies.. well... let's not get in there :P

Conversation with one my friends..

"..I want to get married..but there are no decent men around"

-- "What about the guys you've met recently on naseeb?"

"..some are nice..but i'm just not attracted to any of them"

-- "They haven't got nice personalities?"

"..they have, but no spark there..know what i mean?"

-- "No, Not Really. You want to get married - great guys around, yet you reject them because you don't fancy them!"

Face it guys - if you're not good lookin, tall, and have this 'spark', no girl wants you. Sorry.

People confuse Infatuation with Love..its difficult to tell the difference at first but seriously when you come to think of it..love builds over time..Infatuation is an instant thing..which never lasts..
Also as Frenchy quite rightly says, physical attributes fade over time, love lasts...

Anyone who base their love on lust if a fool, be it a man or a woman. Being in love will make you not only accept the other the way they are but also see their inner beuaty shine through and take over any physical attributes that in others seemed so important...

Thanks Begsy...

Love is complicated but how/what do we define as love, I mean is one persons idea of love different to anothers... also I think that what men regard as love tends to be linked to lust and a womans impression is based more on emotions...

Here you go Nussie: I think the love that you are referring to more borders on like/lust rather than love itself. Lasting love is a lot more complicated and most importantly is based on a friendship and understanding that withstands the pressures of life. That kind of love only develops after marriage.

Hey Begsy,
I don't come on every day and hence, find it difficult to keep up with the journals sometimes! Glad to know I've been missed :-)
True what you say Redlabel. Before marriage we tend to look at things through rose-tinted glasses, but the reality of marriage brings you crashing down once the honeymoon period is over. It's up to both you and your partner to keep the romance going, to build trust and to compromise, compromise, compromise. That doesn't mean reneging on your principles, but it does mean using your common sense and letting the little things go and keeping the bigger picture in mind.
Most importantly, we must remember that marrying is to complete half of our deen and Allah (swt) will reward us - whether that is in this life or in the hereafter shouldn't matter, although we are all human and sometimes things can get you down. That's why it's so important to pray, at least even once a day to remember Allah (swt) and we will feel peace in our hearts.
Sorry if this sounds like a lecture, didn't intend it that way :-)

I cant read Mosbys comments );

I was married but wasn't in love... I dont know about growing to love each other, it was more like becoming fond of one another... as for putting up with their habits... well lets say thats why we are not married anymore!

It hasnt put me off marriage altogether so thats a good thing...

Mosby, it's hard for the naseeb unmarried folk (esp women imo) to grasp the concept of true love after marriage. If you find someone you get along with on a personal level, the love and respect that grows between you two is immeasurable. You are each others best friend, lover, confidante, and training partner all rolled into one!
BF/GF relationships don't have that special bond, unless you live with each other for a while that is - even then, you still hold back a little something in anticipation for when you get married.
