I WAS READING THE QURAN AND REALIZED SO MANY THINGS SAID IN THE QURAN WERE SO TRUE, IT WAS REALLY LIKE I WAS READING A BOOK ON HOW TO GUIDE MY WAY OF LIFE, THE QURAN MENTIONS EVERYTHING FROM THE PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE ETC ETC!!!
I WAS READING ABOUT JINNS, SPIRITS AND HOW THEY ARE MADE FROM FIRE AND HOW POWERFUL THEY ARE AND WHY THEY WILL BE ANSWERABLE ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT, WHICH MEANS THEY WILL NEVER DIE TILL THAT DAY!!
Responsibility to guide children: Whether one marries a Muslim or a non-Muslim, he has a duty of care and guidance to their children (as per Qur'an 66 verse 6). Each person shall be judged by the strength of their efforts on their children. Some children learn from their parents' action not their words, and the children will call Allah to punish their parents for their misguidance on the day of judgement (Qur'an, no reference at the moment). However, some children will just get lost no matter the parents' efforts.
Allah knows best.
I AGREE WITH MANY PPL HERE REGARDING MARRYING A NON-MUSLIM??
I HAVE TO KNOW THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION BELOW AS ITS BEEN IN MY MIND FOR A WHILE,,,??
IF A MUSLIM MAN/WOMAN IS SLEEPING AROUND BEFORE MARRIAGE WITH NO FEAR OF ALLAH,,,,, ONE DAY THEY STOP AS THEY FEAR THERE WIFE/HUSBAND,,,,,,,IS THIS WRONG,,, AS A MUSLIM SHOULD LEARN TO FEAR ALLAH AND OBEY ALLAH AND NOT BE SCARED OF HIS/HER SPOUSE??????
ALSO, IF A MUSLIM MARRIES A NON MUSLIM IT IS HIS RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THE CHILDREN ARE FOLLOWING ISLAM, IF HIS CHILDREN TURN OUT TO BE NON MUSLIMS THEN IS HE GOING TO GET PUNISHED FOR THIS????
But I have seen a few people whose non-Muslim spouse reverted.
My wife teaches Qur'an reading to a woman who was a mon-Muslim, marries a Muslim, reverted and now practices Islam.

I am very much in support of liberation of women from Male chauvinists within Islam and in the general society. However, I do not fall for the traps of Shaytan (aimed at disintegrating the social & family structure) which is made alluring by Feminists and Modernists arguments.
A woman is capable of raising children the way she likes whether by hook or crook, or by gentleness or hashness or by beguiling the man or enthralling, mesmerising, cajoling, coersing, compelling, influencing... whatever. But how does the man react to this situation? How does his family influence his thinking, particularly his sisters and mother knowing what is happening in the home? When issues are not diplomatically resolved in marital environment, they are capable of tilting the balance of responsibilities and leadership .
Btw, talking on leadership, are there any situation where a woman can be the leader of a household consisting of a husband and children? Razneer, Nussie, Mchowdry, Horizon, Enigmatic, MissLondon, AbdulGee, Morals...Anyone? ); *: :* :#
I don't know about "this day and age", but we can't play with laws as we like - I wasnt implying that we can "play" with the laws. I was just stating what seems be to going on in todays society
"And such recommendations (whereby women are encouraged to boss over their husband) is likely to cause more marital breakdown". - are you saying therefore that a woman who is capable of bringing up children/family whilst being married to a non-muslim is likely to boss him! A woman does not need to boss her husband to do that whether you are married to a muslim male or non-muslim male
I was not recommending it either. I think you have misinterpreted me.
What I have explained is the general rule. There will definitely be exceptions. There will be women who are the husbands at home and many men who are the wives at home. But these are exceptional cases.
In Islam, laws and rules are made for the average and not for the exceptions.
I don't know about "this day and age", but we can't play with laws as we like. And such recommendations (whereby women are encouraged to boss over their husband) is likely to cause more marital breakdown. Even men are encouraged not to boss over their women but to involve them and respect their opinion; and consult them. :(
Further, people who convert to marry, are deceitful. Their co-operating spouses are equally guilty of
attempting to deceive Allah and the Muslims, but Allah knows their evil machination even before they planned it.
What if he dies suddenly? Who will guide the children to Islam? Who will raise children to pray for him when he is gone, when nothing reaches the dead but his sadaqatu-jariya (continuous charity), his prayer from his children etc? Who will help endure that he is buried befitingly as a Muslim and his inheritance is dibursed as recommended by Allah?
This is to confirm that marrying non-Muslim is not a priviledge but an enormous task for a difficult situation.
In fact, in my opinion a muslim woman strong in her deen could be able to sustain a better marital relationship and family with a non-muslim man, than a muslim man marrying a non-muslim woman.
In this day and age I mean!
Marry chaste Ahlul-Kitab is a provision for Muslim Men who travel far and wide for several reasons including for dawah, studies, work, etc. Instead of falling into the temptation of zina, the chaste ahlul-kitab was permitted to the Muslim Men as a choice in a difficult situation . Definitely, it will amount to undue generalisation to conclude that one can rarely find chaste ones amongst them. A near nun will be ideal.
However, in my experience, Muslim Men are weak. For the sake of peace, they give their wives liberty to inductrinate their children into other faiths.
The only reason women are not lawfully allowed to marry non-Muslim is because of their vulnerability and rasing children whom their husband leds to other faith. To avoid disintegration of marital relationship, Islam discouraged this union. Other reasons include a Muslim woman's inability to cope with a husband (and possibly his family and friends) who disrespects the Prophet or the Qur'an, who pressurises her into cooking haram food or providing such, preventing her from worship of Allah etc. Many women would normally give up the deen or relax to the level of non-practising (which is as good as going out of the deen -sorry if that offends anyone, but that's the truth) rathan have a marital life that is ever turbulent or continuously tensed.

May Allah bless our efforts and keep us on the track of success in this world and in the Hereafter.
I assume you are talking about the Prophet Moses (as) and Isa (as)??? If you are, they they were ppl of the book because their beliefs would have been the same as preached by Isa (as) and Moses (as).
DISCLAIMER : THIS OPINION DOES NOT RELATE TO ME SOLEY, IT RELATES TO AN OBJECTIVE SITUATION
The VE has obviolsly raised a very important aspect of our deen.
Allah (SWT) says:
"Do not marry unbelieving women (idolaters), until they believe: A slave woman who believes is better than an unbelieving woman, even though she allures you. Nor marry (your girls) to unbelievers until they believe: A man slave who believes is better than an unbeliever, even though he allures you. Unbelievers do (but) beckon you to the Fire. But Allah beckons by His Grace to the Garden (of bliss) and forgiveness, and makes His Signs clear to mankind: That they may celebrate His praise." (Q2:221)
