Match Point--A MUST-SEE!!
I've seen a lot of movies address the topic of love affairs, but this one takes the cake...EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT MOVIE!!!! Don't miss out!!!!
They did make a movie about columbus it was called 1492. I didn't watch it but I think it does incorporate some of the more realistice accounts of discovering the "new world" that wasn't quiet new since it was already populated. I am nto sure how much the did with it but Columbus was a dubious hero at best. I love Howard Zinn amazing bookthe People's History!
oh didn't know about the book...interesting...but yah i do know columbus wasn't a hero, i think they pounded that in our brains enough in seventh grade...yet i still think it would turn out to be an interesting movie nonetheless...
see i love horror movies too, i'm mesmerized by them...but i CANNOT sit in a movie theater watching them cuz that's just too frightening with the loud noise and open environment... i need my blanket lol..but if i had someone to go with me i'd go cuz my friends are bigger whusses than me so they NEVER agree to go
i loved alexander!! i thought it was awesome...kingdom of heaven i liked as well...oh god don't get me started with angelina...i don't know... the whole episode with her stealing brad pitt from jennifer thing just makes me hate her...i know that has nothing to do with her performance as an actress, but i can't stand her with her 'oh i adopt the children of the world but i see no problem in stealing women's husbands'...my co-workers and i always bash her...haha i was never a big fan of collin ferrel either! he does sound like a soccer player...
but you know what i was pondering....how come they haven't made a movie on columbus? don't you think that would be interesting to watch? i mean from an historical point of view everyone has learnt about him and it would be such a huge hit...
OK so I LOVE historical movies too and I saw Alexander which was an awesome story (well historicaly) but I am not a big fan of Collin Ferrel he always sounds like a soccor player or something... Angelina wasn't all that great either I thought...so there's no way I am seeing the New World! eventhough its got Christin Beal who I LOVE. I wanna see hostel too.. eventhough I I'll probably have my hands on my eyes...I did see both Saw movies which I thought were pretty cool...I am a big horror buff too!
i was going to see tristan and isolde or the new world but i think they're going to be dumb...wasn't too pleased with the trailers...but i like historical movies also...umm what else...hoodwinked was cute...but my friend told me to watch hostel..he said it was really good...so that's my next one
That is really funny. A friend of mind told me that she hated Closer and hated men after she saw it, and did not even want to talk to her boy friend after she watched it! I think love affairs are selfish fleeting and passion is unstable, by its nature.
Closer is one of those movies that the script is phenomenal the stuff that's said and happens is just so fantastic, it clearly illustrates the fickleness of human character and relationships and the compromise that is present in all relationships no matter how much freedom one has...
it's funny how some people react to these kind of movies...some people love them cuz they hate them with a passion...i was discussing this in the JE on my profile about this movie...after seeing it, as i was leaving the theater there was this old couple sitting near me and the old lady was cursing off the husband in this movie "oh i hope he goes to hell...he's an ____!!" ... i heard a lot of people make comments outloud throughout the movie also lol...which is really uncommon...but i thought it was amusing...
i'm not a big fan of portman either...she's a southern bimbo and that's the only part she can play well... yeah i've heard criticism about closer also...lol and i guess i'm a cynic too...but that's why i think this movie hit the nail on the head...cuz love affairs are in fact cynical cuz theyr'e all about selfishness and fulfilling ur own desire..and every other movie is about how the spouse gets caught in a love affair...while this movie shows that there are in fact people that get away with it...
I used to think I'd hate Woody Allen but his stuff is so amzaing and on point and the sarcasm is fantastic. I mean a lot of people think his stuff is very cynical about human nature but I just think its more on point. (ok mybe I am a cynic) Ok I am not a huge fan of Por-man (portman) but Jude law is a certified hottie! :) actually Cive Owens is amazing in that movie, very very creepy and Julia Roberts actually did very well..but i'v heard of people really hating that movie too...
Me too! (haven't seen a woody Allen film I didn't like) I think Unfaithful had a lot of great parts, but to be fair, it was more of thriller than a movie purley about the perversions of the human soul...whihc is what I thought Closer was...although a lot of people found Closer really distasteful...
