Meeting: The End of Mysticism

___________________________________ __________

In the Name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

The University of Toronto-based group Advocates for Islam
presents

The End of Mysticism II:

A COGNITIVE ANALYSIS OF SPIRITUALISM AND MYSTICISM
AS CLAIMANTS OF TRUTH

"Truth has come (to prevail) and falsehood has vanished. Truly falsehood always vanishes" (Qur'an 17:81).

The vanishing of falsehood is related to the continuous
realization and understanding of truth. The Qur'an brings to our attention the continuous process of discovering new knowledge and the opportunity that is always present to join the ranks of the truthful: "We shall show and reveal to them our evidences and proofs in the horizons and within themselves..." (Qur'an 41:53).

Along this Qur'anic path, the presenter seeks to bring
attention to the expanding knowledge coming out of the
interdisciplinary co-operation between the areas of
neuroscience and cognitive science (i.e. modern psychology) that is revealing of the inner working of the brain/mind/body that should help in explaining the origin of mystical experiences.

This shall be done, God willing, in the context of the Qur'an and science.
