Local group Metropolitan has been one of our favorite local acts since 1999, when the quartet was just a duo. The band has always had a knack for combining influences from many of the best rock bands of the past few decades -- Sonic Youth, Pavement, Galaxie 500, Television, to name a few -- into its own indie-rock assault. After laying low for a few months, the band is back to performing and is headlining a strong bill tonight at the Warehouse Next Door. Opening is the Eames Era, a quintet that's from Baton Rouge but has a sound that would have fit in Metropolitan's hometown of Arlington a decade ago. The clean indie-pop sound, with chiming guitars and prominent female vocals, brings to mind Velocity Girl or one of many acts on Teenbeat Records (see Friday for more on Teenbeat). Eames Era was supposed to hit the road in the fall, but a collision with a National Guard truck destroyed the band's van. Thankfully, the band members escaped with relatively minor injuries (a broken arm was the worst) and they're healthy to play again
