Just wondering what people think of Michaelle Jean's appointment as Governor General. ... What exactly the GG does has been somewhat a mystery apart from handshakes, planting trees, and being wherever there is cake. Not so bad. (H) But other than that, they're not required to do much are they? ... Hopefully Jean will take the role up a few notches and be able to use and show her talents more fully than those previous seem to have. Does anyone think that taking the role means leaving behind the talent a person came to the job with?? I don't know a lot about the intricacies of the role but with Jeanne Sauve and Adrienne Clarkson - what I know of them - it seems this happened. Maybe I'm wrong ... And if I'm right, then I hope with Jean as GG, I'm proved wrong. She seems a very good choice to me. Any thoughts?
