Yes its true that middle market firms tend to pay a bit more than the big 4 and they do so because the turnover rate in middle market firms such as GT or BDO is much more than the big 4.

Yea I remember my good glory intern days. That was the only time I enjoyed working OT.

Lets not forget about the lunch and dinners that interns get all the time too.

Always start out with a big4... in the short run u will be drained and stressed but the payoff in five to six years is HUGE...

I agree that big four have their charm, but recently some of my friends that went to work for the other middle market firms like Grant Thornton (I still think that GT should be in its own class) UHY etc have had a much better compensation structure. Even the first year staff have had the luxury of Over Time. I love the internships with big four b/c of OT but as soon as you come as a full time staff, they pull the plug on OT. I guess you have to pay your dues.
