Milk based desserts

If you don't already know.......I LOVE milk!! I also have a horrible sweet tooth!!! I'm at my happiest with any dessert and and a big jug of milk and large glass. Not your regular 250 ml glass......but my special, "MILK" glass that is 3 times the size of your regular glass.

Since I love milk, and I love desserts, its only natural that my favorite desserts are milk based.

My all time favorite 'sweet thang' is ice cream!! Did you know that there are people in this world who are paid to taste test new ice cream flavours. Hello!? My dreeeeam job!!!

I also love Ras Malai. For all you non desi?s, Ras Malai consists of white round shaped ball (made by boiling milk and then separating the cream from the water using vinegar) in a delicious sweet milk syrup. Mmmm, yummy in my tummy!

Another favorite of mine is kheer. Yet another desi dessert which is made of milk and has the consistency of custard. It is best with crushed almonds and pistachios.

A delicious milk dessert that I tried at a posh desi restaurant in England is Faluda. You have not lived if you have not tried Faluda!! It is a milk drink with vermicelli at the bottom....sort of like lassee (yoghurt milkshake) but way better!! It also has pistachios and these tiny little clear coloured round things in it....have no clue what it is but it?s what makes Faluda very unique indeed.

Other desserts that I love are kulfi (a desi milk popsicle, very creamy!), barfi (creamy milk and sugar cut into cubes) and custard mixed with anything!!

So.......what are your favorite milk desserts?! :)

ok! Listen up y'all. I just MADE the most awesomest dessert today with SOUR CREAM..... Its called Pineapple dessert and its truly DA BOMB!!

Mix 700 g crushed tea biscuits with 1/2 cup butter. Add three egg yolks, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 medium container sour cream and one can crushed pineapple (with the juice). Mix it all together and place in a nice dish. If you like you can layer the top with whip cream. Chill in fridge and serve. I'm telling you......its soooooo good!

AR....I have an ice cream maker to make my super duper, yummy in my tummy mango ice cream. However, during my pre ice cream maker days... I would buy premium vanilla ice cream, leave it out for a few minutes so its a bit soft and then mix in mango pulp (easily available from any southasian shop....make sure it is a product of pakistan though, LOL) with a large spoon and then freeze. Within the next few days..I"ll put up the recipe for Ras Malai in my journal entry. ITs honestly sooooo very easy to make. ONce you have made it and realize how easy it is, you will want to have it for breakfast every morning! LOL

Afaq...OMG! Seriously, I have been in Canada all my life until 2 years ago...so I always loved Mango, but never had the pleasure of trying "real" mangos. When I was in England for 2 years..I used to LOVE eating mangoes because they were the Paistani ones. DAMN are they way better. Anything mango definitely has the SAIMASTAMP of approval ;) I used to visit my Uncle all the time who lives in Southal. They have the best Faluda at "GIFTO's" there. Its heaven.....pure piece of heaven!! Oh..and I love Ambala sweets too! Oh and Thorntons, I love Thorntons. LOLZ...I swear, being in England is not great for the waitline, that's for sure!
