Yeah alot happens on the down low, hehe. Dam I got stories to tell! LOL, Moondreamer your talk about hot and heavy reminds me of the stuff that I hear about in ISNA. Talk about Dance and Music you'll get a lot there. Night parties the whole nine.

Osman, I think you may be right, where ever there is music and dance, girls & guys will get hot and heavy. I'm pretty sure it has happend somewhere...lol thats why its haram...I guess. Music and dance can promote girl and guy hookups thats always the way it is, happens in the american culture all the times.. Even though desi culture tries not to promote that kind of stuff, I'm sure it happens on the down low. I'm sure grandma will not try to get her groove on but the young beti and betha will...lol

No not necessarily, however I am sure there have been instances where that has happened. LOL Nah...I'm playing, I don't know. Old people look silly trying to be young. I mean come on grandma you had your time to get jiggy with it now sit back in a rocking chair.

I can understand why some people may feel its haram but Music and dance does'nt necessarily mean the night having to end in sexual intercours...LOL

I don't know, I have always had the notion that desi people dont know how to have a good time. They feel after a certain age people should not have fun anymore. Thats how I was raised to think....lol But me being an all american gal, I dont belive in that. Its nice to hear that old desi aunties can get on the dance floor and move! I personlly love to dance even though I'm not into the whole clubbin scene.

Yeah it was pretty funny. I begged the family to see the wedding video, but they wouldn't let me see it. Those funny lil aunties, gotta love them. I think music is what makes an event a wedding. It's all good with me.

LOL.... Osman.... that was pretty funny about the whole old a$$ aunties doing crazy dance moves. Sorry if I sterotyped, I'm a bit ignorant on some of these things. I guess i have not been to that many weddings, desi or pali. Its just that the punjabi peeps that I've came across are very liberal and they want to enjoy life. I kinda like that about them. Again, I have never lived among a whole society so I wouldnt know.
A nightclub scence wedding... with desi people? I would have loved to have seen that!!!!
Eitherway, I would not mind music and dancing in my wedding cause w/o music and dance a wedding would not seem like a celebration to me, but thats just my take on it. I know many of you people out there would disagree.

Well Moondreamer...The fact that your refering to is a stereotype. I have been to Punjabi weddings where there is no dancing/music at all and the same with Pali weddings. It's all about how far the families want to go. Haram is haram. An unforgettable wedding that I went to had like old a$$ aunties doing some crazy dance moves. At that time beware of the boyz was like a hot track...dam...I swear the wedding event had turned into a nightclub scene. :-/

abshaw, I agree, I think music and dance makes people very happy and fun to be around. I like to listen to music and dance around whenh i cook and clean in the kitchen. It makes house chores a lot easier.

Music and dance are 2 things that bring out the better you, thus, the people (punjabis) who have these things adapted are the ones with a lot of goodness in them.

Punjabis are people with open hearts. They love to live a life full of joy. However other regions of Pakistan also enjoy a fun life too, but no one can beat the color of Punjab

Hey, well the only reason I posted this is because I went to a Kasmiri/hydrabadi wedding once. I hated it because there was no music and no dance plus the men and women were separate. It felt like a boring business conference. They had some religious speakers and then they had food. It was sooo boring that my friend and I left! I hated it I couldnt stand a minute of it ! I think I would like to have dance and music in my wedding if i were to get married. I think Punjabis have that in their weddings, I dont know if anyone else does. I had gone to a palentinan wedding one time and it was amazing! So much fun so much music and dancing. They had elderly people dancing, children dancing with their parents.... It was a blast! I just wish more desi wedding were like that.
