can anyone whip out a sentence or paragraph from the Quran that states it is haraam? I heard from extreme fundos that sports is haraam as well.

Desi, i know your right..now im not speaking for myself, many people think that it is haram. Its just nice to justify it and make it clear for others in this village that believe that it is haram.

well saying "Music is haram" is too broad!
Its just like saying money is "Evil". I mean money doesn't have a mind of its own. Its us. We can take a dollar bill and go to a strip club and give it to the stripper, and same dollar bill can go to donation at the masjid. So whats wrong with the dollar bill? Its the dude whos spending it. Samething with Music, certain Music is halal and some is haraam. We are all educated people and are intelligent too, so use your brain do some research and then come up with your conclusion.

SEE THE ONLY REASON I BROUGHT THIS SUBJECT UP WAS BECAUSE THERE WAS A GIRL THAT CHECKED OUT MY PROFILE AND IN HER PROFILE SHE SAID MUSIC IS HARAM....

music, pictures, poems, literature, films, stage productions, visual arts that convey liscentious ideas, lewd acts, and other haram things are prohibited. Doing these things is prohibited. The medium is not the problem. We are all smart enough to figure this out. Many ghazals and shairi talk of drinking and inebriation. Isn't this haram? Use your mind. It's Allah's (SWT)greatest gift given to you.

I agree with Jasmine. I mean that is full proof that it is not haram. But of course, listening to music that talks about sex and always using curse words are haram.
