I am posting some information I received regarding the following case in NY:
(it's a bit lengthy, contact info at the bottom)

Assalamo Alaikum:

Two Muslim teenage girls have been detained and their reputations
questioned by false accusations of a national security threat. Yet we
are confident that these girls are honorable-- one from Guinea, and
the other is from Bangladesh. As you may have heard in your masjid or
read recently in the New York Times, ICNA Relief has been working
directly with the families to assist them during this time of
emotional and financial crisis.

You may think others in our community have donated to help the
families; but despite CAIR NY ads in the local Muslim press, very
little has been donated so far--especially by Muslims. Most of the
small checks received by CAIR NY and ICNA Relief are from non-Muslims!

So why, then, are these young women in jail, cut off from their
families? Why are their lives being ruined? It appears that the
charges are vastly overstated and innaccurate. In fact, an FBI
official has told The New York Daily News, "Nobody here believes they
are wanna-be suicide bombers." Another official at the Department of
Homeland Security commented, "We're not spun up about this case."

It is shocking that the government is using immigration law to jail
these two 16 year olds without charging them with a crime, holding
secret proceedings against them without giving them access to the
evidence that is being used against them, and slandering them in the
media as "suicide bombers" without providing proof. But if we do not
stand up to this as a community, we can expect to see many more such
cases.

Since early April, ICNA Relief has already assisted directly with
sensitive crisis intervention for the two families, helping to obtain
an attorney, hotel room, and hope to help find lasting accommodation
for one of the families, who are now homeless. This family has no
income or savings, and has been hounded out of their home by media
and fear. Without even owing a car, the parents must travel almost
four hours to see their daughter. Family life for this family of six
has been completely disrupted.

Both families have lost their income and are currently in need.
Currently they require at least $5,000, perhaps more, for the next
six weeks. As we learn more details about the government's tactics,
we may find that this ordeal may last longer.

To help these suffering families deal with the crisis, our caring
staff has also reached out to colleagues and volunteers. We have
helped to coordinate advocacy between lawyers and activists. We have
always worked to support the wishes of the families, not to make a
name for ourselves or make speeches. We have also agreed not to use
the girls' names to guard their privacy. At the same time, we are
concerned by reports that some groups and individuals may be raising
money that does not go to the families in need and may be exploiting
the situation.

How to give?

This is a horrifying crisis for both families. At this time, we
understand that the only funds working directly to help the families
are: 1) the CAIR NY Emergency Family Fund (co-administered by ICNA
Relief staff) and 2) ICNA Relief (for 9/11 Program). In a show of
unity, CAIR and ICNA are both supporting each others' efforts to help.

All funds earmarked for the two girls will be provided for their
expenses, not to any other cases. Or if you prefer, indicate if you
prefer that your donation will be used for detainee families more
generally.

So far, less than two thousand dollars has been received by CAIR NY
and ICNA together. There's enough money available right now from
various sources to cover legal and emergency expenses for only a few
days, but their situation may become desperate very soon. Some of
their family members and friends are keeping their distance out of
fear. Even now, these two families are reduced to eating instant
noodles for their meals.

However, given everything these two families are going through with
their daughters' jailing, isolation, and the media smear campaign by
the government, we Muslims need to help out with emergency funds for
food and shelter. It may also be necessary to fundraise for airline
tickets for some family members in the future, and to provide monies
for the readjustment of the young brothers and sisters, depending on
the outcome and duration of the cases.

As Muslims we have a responsibility to help our brothers and sisters
in need. Please open your hearts to the families of both girls,
separated and fearful. Let them know they have a the loving support
of the Muslim community, and the protection of faithful neighbors.
Please consider an urgent donation to either of these two authorized,
established funds or give generously to both funds. Donations are tax
exempt.
