muslims and non-muslims relationship

As everyone have seen, these days muslims some how believe that if we see a on muslim we are suppose to dislike them. i dont know how muslim get that concept. i live in new york city and i came across a couple of muslims brothers and sisters who believe in hatred of non muslims. A muslim cannot hate a human being weather its yahudi or a christian.
The fundamental relationship is reffered to in the quran in the following words:
"Allah forbids you not with regard to those who fight you not for your faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealign kindly and jsutly with them:for Allah love those who are just. Allah only forbids you with regards to those who try to fight you for your faith and drive you out of your homes and support others in driving you out, from turing to them(for friendshsip and protection) it is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong.
SURAH AL Mumtahanah.

Islam rejects the concept of man made differnce between humanity, weather its based on religion, race, birth place or color. islam treats every muslim equaaly even if one choose not to follow the religion of islam. he has evry right to live in peace an tranquility in a muslim state or muslim majority areas.

Acutally a lot of the cult muslims groups i think hate other muslims. So for them to hate non muslims is almost a given. What i dislike the most about any kind of cult muslims groups is that they always protray a feeling of superiority over the normal muslims. Its almost like they are saying that we are doing to hell. Without really saying we are. what can u do. except be nice to them.

Absolutely true Juvi. No one has the right to hate anyone, and Islam does not prescribe anywhere in any of the books that you have to hate non muslims etc. The ahl-e-kitaab or non-ahl-e-kitaab make a difference only when issues like marriage and all come in, for which, we have well defined guidelines. If anything, a Muslim should try to portray Islam and its beauty with as simple a thing as being a true momin in his/her day-to-day life. A contribution, as miniscule as the one mentioned, can help non-muslims understand what Islam is all about, and wipe out the incorrect image that has been depicted. When u come across these fanatic muslim bro's/sissy's, tell them to first look into their own garb and the muslim population in general, and ask them about what their contribution has been in uplifting the standards. Look at how the world has adopted the finer aspects of Islam..and compare that with how muslims have deviated from their often prescribed methodologies. Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in his last sermon has mentioned that he is leaving behind two things for his Ummah..the Holy Quran and the Sunnah, and that the one who will base his/her life on these two things will never go astray. I think being narrow minded and staying aloof is sheer stupidity, and instead, we all should do a stringent evaluation/soul searching, to get to understand why the Muslim's in the entire world are living in the conditions they are.
