This is the path through which I learned about 'sufism'... it turns out that they, to this day, have been the most devoted people to Islam that I've ever known. Being around the sheikh and listening to what he said had helped my faith tremendously. It really isn't different from the Islam you know (so calling it a 'sect' is quite the misnomer), just articulated in a way that it touches your soul. I describe the way I feel around these teachings the way I feel when the adhan is called out. It's moving and enlightening. Sheikh Nazim has brought more people to Islam than you'd ever imagine. Learning more abut him, it is not a wonder to me why.

Salamalaikum,

Laila, they have a website naqshbandi.org and apparently they have these zikr gatherings in London too. Maybe u can go to one of them and ask the questions to the students and/or sheikhs present there!
Good luck.
:)

miss L... that is the sect that got me turned onto sufism actually. in my humble opinion, they are able to blend the spiritual, ecstatic experience of reality with the legal and formal elements of Islam without diverting from it.

I recommend you read "Liberating the Soul: A Guide for Spiritual Growth" by Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqani, Vol 2. :) good book. I'm 1/2 way through.
