NASEEB LETTER.....

ok folks....there seems to be quite a bit of controversy on naseeb over what i am about to mention.

First of all I want to make it absolutely crystal clear that I in no way condone or condemn what the writer has written....i just want to get people's opinion on the larger issue that surrounds this.

You will need to refer to the following
chowk.com

.....the writer in question is part of the naseeb vibes staff team.

What I want to discuss here is not so much what was written.....but it appears that the controversy surrounding this......is that the person who wrote this plays a prominent role within the naseeb support admin staff.......and therefore people are questioning the integrity of what was written compared to the ?post? that the person holds on the ?naseeb board?

What do you folks think?

NB Correction, re comment on beards and hair scarves. The comment below would only be 100% accurate if I was of the opinion that men should wear beards - as Im not of the opinion that its compulsory then I should clarrify that I was simply using her example, and not stating an opinion on whether having a beard is or is not compulsory and thus reflective of what a Muslim man should look like when grooming himself - sigh such dfisclaimers, why didnt I become a lawyer :p

She clearly seems frustrated, but like most of us, instead of addressing the issues we find the easy way of criticising the faith. For example when she talks about people suddenly covering their hair or growing beards - she has a valid point. We have become a bi-polar society, during ramadan we do one thing, outside of ramadan we are another. There are however two ways to view this, either this flip into a spiritual approach may in fact be exactly what ramadan is about, to help us understand that this is how we should be and thus perhaps even change some of our lives for the better; or to adopt the cynics view that we are all hypocrites - I prefer the former.

Like every person she has a right to express herself and I suspect there are others out there who also feel this way as well. They shouldnt be silenced rather lets listen to what they have to say and adrress their concerns. Equally however she cannot expect a miracle,. nor can she expect to cite the example of how Muslims behave in Pakistan, interpreting Islam, acting upon Islam, as the basis of what Islam is supposed to represent. For if she has sufficient understanding to identify these two seperate poles of faith and non-faith, she also has the ability to understand that the virtues of what ramadan brings, its blessings, its lessons are there to act as a reminder for us. Whether she chooses to further her understanding or simply sit, comment and be angry, that is a matter between her and God, and may Allah have mercy on us all, ameen.

Of course there is the hadith of the Prophet which says that some people who fast only feel hunger. Meaning that others understand the spiritual values. So may Allah Almighty makes us of those who understand and benefit from the spiritual blessings of ramadan, and not of those who fast and feel nothing but hunger, cynicism, anger, and all the other bad stuff, ameen.

humm....well, firstly, everything has to do with perception and how one CHOOSES to take things, weathers it be religion, or culture.

If she chooses to see it this way as a month people are to stay hunger and be good for the month and not the rest of the year. If she sees it as what she views this month as....thats on her.

Islam is suppose to be a WAY of LIFE....that means in our daily life...365 day of the year.

If you ONLY are practicing that ONE month and you wear Hijab and be GOOD that month....thats wrong...and HEY thats on you.

Thats how YOU as an individual CHOOSE to take Islam.

However that NOT what ISLAM is.

This is NOT what RAMADAN is.

As far as her being on here and being an Admin in a site like this with Views like hers....There are MANY kinda Muslims...WE can not dictate how they should follow and believe...That was her PARENTS responsibility!

Of course she should be here, even if we DO NOT AGREE to her views or ideas...she is still Muslim. And you know, She may hear our view and knowledge on Islam and it lead her to thinking and changing....
Maybe there is something WE can learn from her as well.

She ISN'T Worshiping the DEVIL! LOL

You Never know how, or which ways you may Move peoples Mind.

no their not amby :P

off with their heads.

( agree masti, the etnire point of that is not Islams, its our culture , the pakistanis make the women cook feasts. but my ammi and our family doesnt, so aisha jee needs to be careful with how she tries to break down one of the pillars of islam, how can u all say they are entiteled to their own opinion. ok now someone tell me,
if i said " im a muslim, but i hate Muhhammad ( ) ...so yes, im entiteled to my own opinion?

If you are now going to use this westernised method of free speech NO MATTER WHAT, then shame on all of you. Islam binds us to fight for our faith, to defend it.
And who cares if she was joking, i dont find any humour.

I agree with one point

"... food becomes more complicated and preparations take longer, instead of the task simplifying, food preparation puts undue burden on women"

why can't people eat simple meals? why does the food served in ramadan be more of a display?
