Now that the big boys have done their business, now its time for my favorite time of the year babay...that's right, the college draft...i love seeing the boys who went to college succeed at the next level with the big boys...any thoughts?

funk, gotta agree, he's the kind of guy whose athleticism and wingspan is going to make him deadly on the offensive boards, shotblocking, etc. he needs to refine his game outside of the paint though, to be a true star.

well everyone is saying that m.williams is the one can't miss player in this draft. i still think the best pick of the first round was warrick at 19. he's gonna be a star, not just a role player...he woulda been a top 5 pick had he come out his sophmore season.

I mean, any draft u look at, 95% of the impact players come out of the top 10/lottery, role players from the rest of the 1st round, and its a cr@p shoot in the 2nd round...(i.e. michael redd, manu, salim, etc) but the key is the player needs to fit the system in order to be maximized...

yeah...i guess your right about fitting in the pistons system. but i can see simien a double double type of player. he's soft, but he's extremely powerful, and if with the right coach, could be a devestating force. his injury woes kinda settled down the latter part of his junior and senior year...but i guess we'll know in a couple years. you know how the draft is; they hype any mofo out there, and you get what, 5-6 impact players??

simien is injury prone, so i don't think he'd be able to take a beating nor give on out the way the pistons would. He's not a tough man at all.

stock...you dont' think the piston's shoulda taken simien instead of maxiel? i like maxiel, but simien single handedly carried his team (except for that upset loss to bucknell) and is just a monster.

amir, yeah, totally forgot about that. they had a desperate need for a point guard and some size up front...they could easily have traded down and gotten warrick and jack, or rolled the dice on getting the best possible players for right now and picked up warrick and granger...if bynum was what they wanted, they could have gotten him lower too. even if bynum ends up being the next coming of shaq, who's the last high school player that jackson coached?

and what were the Lakers thinking when they drafted the youngest kid ever to be drafted. They get a coach to win now and then get a player who would be nothing but a project for the next few years. Doesn't make sense. Bobcats only wanted to get people on seats that is why they drafted two local kids.

otoh, the what the hell. were they thinking awards go to the suns and denver...the suns desperately, desperately need some depth to keep their starters fresh and they trade away their picks again? If they'd kept their pick last year, they'd have deng now. imagine how much he would have helped them: a rebounding sf with good finishing and an emerging 3 pt shot. Denver was the third best team in the west last year, imo, and was only a couple poor shooters away from playing the spurs to a standstill. Stoudemire's available in the 2nd and francisco garcia is available one pick later....then, trading jack for ricky "who the hell is he" sanchez and linas kleiza, who is described by his own media guide as "Has the capability to be one of the dominant post players in the Big 12 Conference"....wow, don't overwhelm me. How is he getting any time in a frontcourt that has nene, camby, and martin....don't get me wrong, i love that the western conference elite didn't help themselves in the draft....

Man, with the awesome draft the celtics had, all they have to do is not make the mistake of keeping antoine "what do you mean I'm a 6'10" power forward" walker. I think getting rid of pierce is a bad idea but they may be able to get something for ricky davis as well. Let the younguns play with lafrentz and pierce and you have the makings of a solid playoff team with ridiculous upside.

I love what the Bobcats did. Deadly frontcourt, and super fast Felton leading the troops. They can be contenders in the future with the salary cap room they will eventually have.

I am impressed with what the celtics, pacers, and bobcats did in this draft. They really managed to take advantage of the stupidity of other GMs! I am so excited to see Gerald Green and gomes with the C's! They are going to complement west, Al jefferson and Tony allen very well. The celtics are going to be a contender within 2-3 years!

any team taking Simien in the back half of the first round is getting a steal...I think the Raps go with Granger barring a trade

i hope the raps pick raymond felton (or if green falls that far)at 7, and then steal andrew bynum at 17, but word is, he's moving way up on the board. if that goes sour, i say the raps should take a chance with warrick. my other team (before the raps were in existence), the celts, need a PG BAD. but at 18th, i doubt there'll be any stud pg left. i guess they should pick wayne simien or chris taft. both are talented, with taft having the bigger upside.

Draft hindsight is 20/20...Lebron was the clear #1, and Darko had way too much upside to pass up...and carmelo made sense to go to denver over detroit because he doesnt fit into the defensive mentality detroit has. Toronto should have taken wade, but Bosh is a big man, so they didn't want to pass him up, and wade to miami he just fell into their laps. The only mistake in all of this is that Darko should have been playing in Europe the past 2 year and gaining expereince rather than watching the pistons win thier championship and trips to the finals and come over when he was ready and the pistons were ready for him.

good point babay...its more like the college/high school/fob draft these days. I would love to see good kids that went to college get picked and send those high school kids to where they belong...college.
