Which ever health or health related fields you are in, there is a growing need for us to educate non-Muslims concerning issues that affect Muslim clients/patients. For example, I presented a short lecture to Graduate students in Speech-Language Pathology as well as currently working Speech-Language Pathologists in how to work with the Muslim populations in their practices. Some things I mentioned were the lack of eye contact between the different sexes, candy/foods not to give clients/patients, not scheduling male clients during Jumuah, etc... After having given these presentations, I was pleased that people who attended them found it useful. One poor professional told me, "I had no idea that the children couldn't eat marshmellows!" All in all, these experiences were positive.
