Their previwing the new bmw at the end of may in chicago. I got the invitation, but i wont be going cuz i be out of town.

In my opinion (and a lot of auto magazines) BMW builds the best cars in the world. Unfortunately these new interiors (7, 5, and now 3 series) will give BMW a big black eye. Why would an auto maker thats breaking records in sales for the last few years 'fix' whats not broke? Very odd!

front : Awesome
Rear : friggin japanese lookin
Sides : 7'ish...makes it sem big
Interior : Sucky as hell! woood in all the wrong places. Too flat and boring. mirror/window controls hard to reach from the driver side. tiny buttons!!

Drove a 325i, felt like a bigger car, didnt like the response, steering was lighter. View is nice, wheel looks good. Shifter look slike from an x5. Didnt get the signature springy feel on potholes on commonwealth ave(which is a bad thing) Only rear head and shoulder room has increased, which really doesnt seem to make much sense. Cluster has only two dials, making it feel too cluttered in a tiny space. Old style gauge was much simpler looking and easy to read.

The added power def put a smile on my face..but overall..i cudnt help but think..WHY..why did they try to make a tiny 7 series!!! WHY??

I wouldn't buy any BMW unless it was a M series but that's just me....

I just happen to take one for a test drive. my first impression was, not bad!. It will take some getting used to from the way it looks specially from the back but overall not bad. I didnt mind the interior so much looked ok to me. I liked the new start stop button, the indicators also needs some gettig used to as they have changed the way they operate. For me the biggest disappointment or shall is say confusion was the power.. i drove 330i automatic and for some reason the car felt heavy and the engine didnt seem to have that kick. Did anyone else had similar experience. The car only had 100 miles on it perhaps it needs some breaking in but still i was a bit surprised.

More HP will compensate the bad interiors I guess. Anyone knows when they are starting to sell the new model this year ?

I like the old style bimmers with the rap around dash (around the driver not the other way) and window controls on the center console. I guess I have to get used to the new look :-/

oh my bad.. i just saw that Idrive is an option.. well it is with navigation.. which i highly recommend.. u don't know what u have been missing until u get it.. now even when i rent a car for work.. i have to get somekinda navi in it... it is worth $2000 if you drive and go places.. by driving i mean..i put 16k miles in 5 months :)

I haven't driven it yet.. and i don't think i will until i get a loaner.. but interior looks so like new GEN. BMW's.. the IDrive is takign over.. and i personally love that.. i hate the interior for old 3 series.. but i am not impressed with exterior design.. but these are just my personal opinion..
