new Richard Ashcroft album.


i'm a HUGE fan of early Verve (EPs, Storm In Heaven, Northern Soul) and even latter Verve (Urban Hymns)...i thought the first 2 Richard Ashcroft albums were good, but kind of shoddy.........the new one is kinda shoddy too, but i really do like it. It's overtly happy in some places, a bit daft in others...cheesy lyrics in some places.....but i just don't care really.......his voice is still amazing i think.

any other Verve people here? yooamir?

While I always loved later Verve, I only recently got acquainted with some of the older Verve like their debut EP and Storm in Heaven. So many great, very deep and affecting songs... Already There, Beautiful Mind, Feel, etc. If there's one band I wish would come back together, it's them.

I was a reluctant Coldplay fan at first but over the years I have come to terms with the fact that dispite being overhyped they make good music. This is second time i've seen coldplay and I have to say they were so tame compared to when I saw em at the Pavilion 2 yrs ago.

I went to a coldplay show 2 days ago here in Chicago and Richard Ashcroft was supposed to open but didn't end up performing because of illness. bummer.

yeah, man, definitely definitely check out the first 2 Verve albums....some of the best albums ever made!! "Storm In Heaven" and "Northern Soul"....when i think of the word music...those 2 albums rush into my head with a bunch of others....they're mega.

funny you should mention this... i believe richard ashcroft performed on the conan o'brien show this past week. unfortunately i only caught the last several seconds of his performance.

i haven't listened to much of the verve's material, except for maybe a song or two, e.g. bittersweet symphony. looks like i've got some catching up to do!
