NJ, USA- Pakistan Earthquake Relief Fundraiser
Everyone!!!
The International Medical & Educational Trust (IMET) has been involved since 1994 in a variety of humanitarian endeavours mainly focused on helping children who are victim of wars and natural disasters. IMET is a non-profit 501(c) - 3 organization, so all the donations to them are tax deductible.
Research has shown that children who experience trauma and loss of loved ones, if not offered immediate psychological help, stand a serious risk of becoming chronically emotionally disabled.
The IMET Trauma Team responded to the December 26, 2004 Tsunami disaster in both Sri Lanka and Indonesia, training over 300 people to help traumatized children and their families. IMET also responded to the hurricane Katrina disaster which hit New Orleans in 2005. The Trauma Team managed to train over 100 professionals and visit evacuee camps is Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Houston.
IMET has also established a community capable of housing 1,000 Orphaned children of the earthquake in northern Pakistan & Kashmir. The location of the "Village of Hope" is in the Village Bakrial between Mansehra and Balakot, the hardest hit community in Northern Pakistan. The "Village of Hope" not only provides shelter, clean water, and heat to the children, but also a primary school and health clinic with counseling center. IMET is committed to the children of the "Village of Hope" for at least the next two years.
In order to support IMET's ongoing charitable activities, we are holding a banquet in NEW JERSEY, USA which will serve as a fundraiser enabling the IMET Trauma Team to continue its work.
Folks, I am helping another Naseeber organize this event. The banquet will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Akbar Restaurant located at 21 Cortland Street, Edison, NJ (phone 732-632-8822) I'm sure it will be a blast and, more importantly, will raise much-needed funds.
Program to include:
-Music (being provided by X-Entertainment)
-Fashion Show (being organized by Sophisty)
-Dinner
-Dance
-Raffle
-Auction
We need additonal volunteers to join the organizing committee and possibly help organize the dance, raffle, and auction portions of the event and/or assist me with the fashion show (come out, come out wherever you are, fashion buffs! (A) ) Anyone residing in our "Garden State" NJ who is resourceful and can commit some valuable time to this worthy cause should definitely reach out.
I look forward to hearing from you insh'allah.
