NO BORK!! WE ARE MUSLIM!
Being Muslim in the United States poses certain dietary challenges at times.... pepperoni, sausage, bacon... the dreaded pork products...
Now, being of Egyptian heritage provides us with an additional... lets just say distinction...
I remember every time going to a restuarant my dad pulling the waiter aside and saying... NO BORK IN ANYSING! YOU UNDARSTAND? WE ARE MUSLIM, WE DONT EAT ZA BORK! GO TELL ZA MANAJAR!

Actually, I am noticing more of the wine sauces with everything...and I get bothered when some Muslims think it evaporates when it is cooked :#
I am thankful for all of the halal restaurant choices in California (even chinese and persian)..though I need to try to stick to them more when we eat out...I am sure that there are a lot of pork/alcohol traces that enter the food we eat outside without us knowing :( Did you ever think of that? :(
>>what bothers me ba'a is muslims who make such a big deal that they don't eat pork, but drink alcohol a3dy on the plane.
Oh my God!!! *: Rabena yehdeena gamee3an..
After what happened to me this weekend, I totally appreciate now the extra, excessive, making-sure, just-in-case, interrogations that my beloved mother makes to unsuspecting waiters and waitresses at restaurants to ensure that nothing we are ever served has any pork or alcohol, even with water/vegetable products :) If only she was there, her questions would have saved me the grief of enduring that most disgusting taste..
p.s.: the story below by "touna_oo" was really funny :)
in 5th grade, i was kind of a freak.
