NOMADS in NY ...


Its that time of the year when one has to either renew their lease or find a new place "to call home". My lease expires Feb 28th and my options don't look too good. I pay too much for an apartment in Queens and am not going to pay 75 dollars more to stay there. Fine there is a doorman, no roaches nor vermin , elevator building, extremely safe, new carpeting, 2 blocks away from the E/F ...but still....its Queens...



So I'm going to stay with two ppl cut my commute in half (Brooklyn) and pay 1/4 of what I am now including utilities and just save till that apt in the city comes along....mind you, I will miss the privacy and the lack of roaches.



*sigh* Being single has a price... I guess thats why ppl get married...to share the cost of rent/mortgage etc..

snakessss - the funny thing is that guys think the girls back home are simple and instead end up being "higher maintenance" ..all into 22kt jewelry, clothes, makeup and shopping...god the non-stop shopping (because you have to keep up with fashion) and obviously not with their money since ummm they've never worked a day in their lives.....lol

Its true, thats exactly what happens in fact many girls want to not cook etc or have a job either--live in style as their parents have afforded them to have--so good luck to the men in finding that domisticate--

why should girls "back home" even bother with housework when their mothers dont even ? ...

Its soo true in the sense that men have the idea that if they go back they can get a more traditional woman but thats changing very quickly as well. Many of my friends back home have never stepped in the kitchen and have no desire to either.

I think thats why they feel that if they go back home, thats where they will find the "domesticated farm animal" of their dreams... ok now make room under your shield... too many bullets flying whichever way...

its not the fact that you are anti-marriage its just hard these days for women to conform to the traditional role of a wife. (and everyone don't cybershoot me at once) but I feel like that's what happens to many desi-muslim ladies. (ok gonna get killed for this) But I gotta say it. I just feel like "our" men are too traditional in their expectations. Although we would gladly be the traditional, we still want it to be a choice. I hate it when anyone expects me to cook, clean etc. I want to be asked and there has to a balance in ALL duties because we are working as well either out of necessity or personal growth and satisfaction...
