non-animal protein sources
complete vs incomplete proteins
I would like to reduce the amount of meat and animal products I eat. At the same time - I've always read about how important it is to eat "complete proteins" which are found in animal products most easily. I've also read before that you can combine certain non-animal foods to make a complete protein - i.e. they complement each other and each has the amino acids that the other is missing.
Suppose then (for the sake of simplicity!) I eat 1 cup of lentils(54 gms protein) mixed with 1 cup of rice (13 grms protein) - is that then equivalent to eating 67 gms of complete protein? Or just 13 grams of complete protein?
Thanks for your help!
