hmm I've found the very people most 'religous' people condemn to be so horrible are the one's who are often times the nicest and most sincere. Being religous or muslim tells you nothing of one's character which is something only God knows.

Its really sad though cause this whole attitude of non-muslims being lesser people is unfortunately one that many of us grow up hearing.

aminaart.. ppl like one in your eg. trip up sooner or later, you can see through someone who is fundamentalist and pretending not to be.. either that or the ppl praising them are just as bad..

amina, i agree some people on sites like naseeb seem to bleat on about islam/ the perils of the east/ west to the point where you can see it's their insecurities (or lack of knowledge speaking)..

but some of us like bringing up this stuff in order to bring it to people's attention so it can be debated and any glaring misconceptions/ prejudices/ omissions in the general desi way of thinking can be cleared up

Yes, I typed up a long comment, sadly I lost it! What I was saying is that, how dare ppl degrade our countries becuase of 'crimes' and whatsnot.... if our countries had the MONEY, they would fall into places... with education, mentality, lifestyle, crime, food and so on... EVERYTHING we can think of will fall into places. Its only becuase of LACK of money we cannot move forward. if ONE person can help, makes a DIFFERENCE to one person from our country.... it shows hope and enouragement. Rather than waiting for rest of the world to help SOMEDAY. Our roots, that we never forget, shalwar kameez, the language, the food, our grandparents struggles and survivors and so on, how can we forget that when we live in the west? I plan to help re my ART world, to collect poor and talented artist from south asia and help to promote them, create awareness for charity. How dare ppl degrade our countries becuase of crime like rapes? Dont every country has it pros and cons???!!! The west has all the MONEY and who can make a little diff each day.... my apologies for rambling on, it just makes me angry to see ppl falling into trap like Kaniza that show the negative light of our ppl. She also claimed that we are LESS EDUCATED if we dont have the DEPTH and UNDERSTANDING of her JE.

Or actually... some ppl who are 'activist'.... they claim they arent terrorist but want to show the 'light', encourage ppl to 'free' as they couldnt be 'free' in the past.
