This past weekend me and some of my friends did a little cross country hiking trip around Georgian Bay on Lake Huron in Ontario. The landscape of the area is very similar to the Scottish Highlands and the weather is not much different either, its always cold and its almost always raining, needless to say we had all our gucci gortex stuff on and still ended up getting soaked and very cold and those gortex boots I tell you trap water like nothing else (once it seeps into the boot from the top). Anyways all in all it was very miserable weekend with the exception of a beautiful display of aurora borealis around 3 in the morning. It waslike waves of electricityrunning from one end of the sky to the other creating a breath taking mosaic of colors as they passed through lighly clouded sky. I watched the show for about 10 mins before closing my eyes to get some much needed sleep in wet cold grass :) only to be woken up by freezing rain 45 mins later:).
