I would actually prefer NYC to be independant and not part of the United States. Then I could truly be proud of my 'Country'. It would be small in size, but HUGE in spirit.

I've heard similiar comparisons. But I always thought the soul of the US was the south, the strength was the Northeast and texas, and the life were it's people.
