ok maybe it's just me...but what kinda..
..horrible sadistic people are these magicial types that they send their kids to this crazy school where they have to do all kinds of dangerous stuff just to win some stupid tournament!?
And most of the charactors seemed to not have any concern at all about this as they all cheered on their friends until one of them actually gets killed!?
And why is it if they don't have their wands they are basically screwed? What kinda lame magic is that?

the students didn't have to enter the tournament unless they wanted to (except Harry of course).
about people dying, I think they used to die back in the old days , but these days the touranement was being supervised. If you remember in the 2nd task, harry found out that he didn't have to save Gabrielle after all because they wouldn't have let her drown. I assume that the same goes for the well being of all the champions in the different tasks.
And the one that died - he died because of something noone would've suspected - Voldemort.
Harry can't do magic without his wand because he hasn't learned to yet. He learns in his 6th year. I forget which years the other champions are but they should be able to do magic without their wands. They probably used theirs for extra focus when doing their spells because I understand that you need a lot of discipline to do magic without wands.
