On Imam ALI being called GOD

Just wanted to ask you guys on what is your view/perspective on the fact that these days in the India/Pakistan Imam ALI is being called as "ALI-RABB"... (ALI-GOD). Such chants are iterated over and over again during Mushayras (Poetry sessions), majalis, etc especially in Ramadhan/Muharram/Rajab.

I knw for sure a 100% that even the most vague/slight implication of anything/anybody being attached to ALLAH is HARAM, and equates to SHIRK. So on what grounds do these notions of equating Imam ALI and attributing him w/Godly qualities and features are legitimized and accepted in these societies???

But if you think about it, there must be something great in Imam Ali (as) that would lead a whole group of people to think he was God. Therefore those who say he was just a common man, were obviously not aware of his spiritual status or did not wish to accept it.

Only Nusaris/Alawis consider imam Ali (as) God and no other shia sect does as it is shirk and that is the biggest sin. Imam had many titles as mentioned below, just like Rasool Allah (SAW) had i.e. Rahmatul Alimeen and there is nothing wrong in that - no shirk.

Not necessarily, I have read and heard that Hazrata Ali (AS) used to be called "asada'llah" the lion of God, and Babi'llah the gate to God. My personal opinion is that it's just out of mistaken intention, misguided. But through out Shia history we have broken off in to many off shoots; kharajittes and even bahaii a whole "new" religion. So it seems to me that this coincident has to be either politically motivated misguidance or just mis understanding of either intention or text.

Yes they do, and that's why they are considered Mushrik (people who commit Shirk), but what I'm saying in the above JE, is some 12er SHias calling Imam ALI GOD!... that's plain out wrong.. and anyone opposing this notion is being labelled "wahabi", "deobandi", a spy etc by the masses!..
