Oprah Scandalized
I was wondering if anyone else was following the Oprah/James Frey controversy. Frey is the guy who wrote a book he claimed as a memoir that Oprah's book club endorsed, and that later turned out to be mostly fabricated. I followed the story in the articles that were released, but I missed the show she invited Frey back on to fess up along with Nan Talese (his publisher), and various editorialists. From the clips that I've seen and the articles I've read, I'm more disappointed in someone like Talese than I am with Frey.
These things happen, but the indifference with which somone in publishing approached it all was sort of unsettling (in a clip I saw from the show, she was unnaturally sedate). I'm still a fan of her husband, Gay Talese, who has written some excellent pieces (he's most known for "Sinatra Has a Cold," an interview published...back in the day by...Esquire?)

onegoodmove.org : Jon Stewarts coverage of this issue (including a clip where Oprah blasted Frey) (You would need to go a little less than half way into the clip for that portion of the show.) really really funny!!
