hes saying , Jihad is an excuse for muslims (like once the christians did in the crusades) to kill people.

hes saying, jihad is nothing. Basically hes taking a concept of Jihad, which is multi layered in its meaning, which is Islamic, ( jihad is an obligation to muslims ) and hes implying either
a) muslims made up jihad because jihad is so barbaric
b) Allahs wisdoms is not wise enough, for him to make Jihad
