Outdoors for busy professionals
Assalamo-Alaikum All,
Since weather is getting better everyday I would like to followup on Virt's idea of sports, presumably outdoor sports.
For starters one can goto Lake Calhoun, there are plenty of fun activities.
For intermediate level there are few hiking trails at Taylor's Falls, I don't believe they have started Canoeing/Kayaking as it is too early for them. They usually start after Memorial Day Weekend. Also there are groups for Rock-Climbing too.
I am up for a half-day/full-day hike at Taylor's falls.
Any better venues or proposals ?

"Due to lack of response (Only cosmiccube and myself) I am canceling the hike on this saturday. Once we have more members then we can go for that, hopefully."

Virt -- on your question, I don't do immigration work but can refer you to a good immigration lawyer if you'd like.

Let's meet at Taylors Falls visitor center around 9:30 - 10:00 on Saturday June 4th. There is a parking fee of $7.00 per vehicle, so it's better to do the ride-share.
There is a pothole around visitor center where we can spend some time then there are couple of hiking trails, with 1-4 miles range, based on who showed up and what are their physical strengths we can pick suitable trail. On almost each trail there are couple of spots where we can rest and re-charge the batteries, have your favourite drinks and energy bars ready.
No matter which trail we pick, at the end of the hike, it would be lunch time. There are couple of options for that
1. Although there are a few restaurants but I have never eaten from there, anybody having any experience with them can
add his/her two cents.
2. Head back to cities and eat from some place.
3. Head back to your respective palces.
Here are the items that everyone should bring.
1. Bring a pair of Jogging/Running/Hiking/Canvas shoes with good tread for grip.
2. Wear something comfortable. (Also bring a fleece or wind braker just in case temperature suddenly drops)
3. Bring water/beaverage (500ml should be good).
4. Bring your favourite energy bars (2-3 should be good unless you have need for more).
Optional.
1. Walking stick.
2. Camera, preferably digital.
3. Sun glasses.
4. Cap/Hat
5. Bring a small towel/tissues.
Driving Directions
From twin cities there are two ways to reach Taylors Falls.
This is the faster but less scenic route
Take I-35E N
Merge onto US-8 E via EXIT 132 toward TAYLORS FALLS
Follow the signs for Taylors Falls, it's almost 20-22 miles.
Turn LEFT onto MN-95/BENCH ST/ST CROIX TRL. Continue to follow MN-95/ST CROIX TRL
At the stop light take sharp right to enter into visitor center.
Other route is more scenic and would take longer time, if you get the time, do take this route you will love it
Take I-35E N
Take 36E towards Stillwater
After Stillwater start out going NORTH on S MAIN ST/MN-95 toward E MYRTLE ST. Continue to follow MN-95.
Turn LEFT onto MN-95/BENCH ST/ST CROIX TRL. Continue to follow MN-95/ST CROIX TRL
At the end of scenic road there would a T-junction take a right and follow to Taylors Falls.
At the stop light take sharp right to enter into visitor center.
Feel free to comment/suggest, then later we can have a show of hands on who is coming.
