Overcomming Plateaus

Hey guys,

Just wondering, if any you folks have some advice on overcomming a plateau. I think at one time, we all reach our limits, and then it gets harder to surpass a certain mark. For example, on the Bench Press I've been stuck at the same maximum weight for almost a year at 4 to 5 reps. Is there any any way to overcome it?

Umairhashim, thanks for the link. I found some good articles and pointers that might help. My routine has been pretty much the same for the past year, except on occassion, I may change the order I target a specific muscle group. On the bench, I've been stuck at 2 Plates and a quarter (275lbs) for almost a year. No matter how hard I train, I just can't get more than 5 reps. My goal is to reach 3 plates. Still a long way to go. Thanks for the pointers.

Cheers

What is your workout routine?
Do you do pretty much the same thing every week?
Your body becomes accustomed to exercises after a while, so it is important to switch up what you are doing. Try free weights working the same muscles or cables...that really does help. A little more information about your issues would be helpful for us to give you advice. : )
