Overweight: A lil thought
Being Overweight, It's a pain in itself for Muslim women in general. Just because you are overweight doesn't mean you have extreme health problems, doesn't mean you don't have a heart, or mean you are easy. When I say overweight, I do not mean the sistas that are a size 8 or 10. I mean the ladies that are 14+. Although even if you are a size 10, the ladies get treated the same.
Just last night, I was logged onto naseeb chat and someone (who I will keep anonymous) sent me a message, after the "Hello" I turned away to watch the show "Medium" when I turned back the first question asked was "Are you skinny?" and then I guess the person must have checked my profile and logged out of the chat. Then when I sent a chat request back it was denied. I just thought to myself "How Rude!" I checked out the person's profile and he says he loves to workout etc. etc. My thoughts were why the F would you message me without seeing my profile first and then so abruptly ask if I am skinny.
His behavior is like an epidemic among some Muslim men...majority of which are South Asian. Let me put all these guys in check. I am a humble person, I try to stay modest, and socialize. I don't judge people on their looks but on their personality and whole heartedness. I know I can't expect people to do the same, but this is just ridiculous...If you wanna base it on looks then I suggest "CHECK THE MIRROR YOURSELVES". I could?ve gone off on the guy and said ?you got nasty scars on your face, those caters look like potholes, and etc., but no! I?m on naseeb to meet good clean-hearted people that want to have good conversations and good times. I may be overweight but that doesn't mean I?m not cute to some, it doesn't mean I am not attractive and desired by men. This is not arrogance, this is my confidence.
When I see an attractive guy, I don't drewl, I look and say wow...then I don't give them a second look. What's the use of him being attractive if the guy turns out to have a bland personality, over confident, not humble, and just plain dull. Most hot guys I've come across turn out to be arrogant, gossipy, lame sense of humor and just high on themselves. They have NO SUBSTANCE.
I know this may sound like I?m venting but it does hurt and anger me at times to know that majority of the men out there are like this. I know it's not just some men that do this, women are also known for turning away from heavy set brothers, but the guys don't have this much strain as women because they bring home they typically bring home the butter...so guys are judged more on the weight of their wallets. In Islam, you want to reach a spiritual high, after this life the only thing left will be our soul, the physical is just for this time.
So why must society emphasize physical in this world as well?

why not move out of the UK also just cuz blair is a bush lap dog, eh? );
IT's almost like the movie Canadian Bacon. Canada has the tolerance of UK and Hmmm...nevermind...they are the forgotten child of the UK whereas US is the Bronze...the daring offspring that survived.
despite the fact that 52% of the US population is overweight, it has the most beautiful women and the best athletes.
big is not always beautiful
lovely things often come in small packages
i agree with fon, we are more tolerant and culturally mixed than most.. some US naseeb people for instance state they are not comfortable acknowledging themselves as Muslim or celebrating their home culture there (which may not be true in itself, I think there is an issue that arises from having to become part of the 'melting pot' though)
if we get bored here we can simply hop over the channel and experience the rest of our culture (european)
but then they end with "UK is UK" .. whatever that means .. i then took them out for fish and chips.. );
