Pakistan Zindabad!!!

Happy Independence Day to all the Paksters and British Muslims of Pakistani Origin!!!

Every now and then, someone is born for whom God has chosen a great purpose. Pakistan was blessed with not one but two!!! Of the two greatest Muslims of the previous century, one was Jinnah: one of the finest barristers, an incorruptible politician, and a man to whom Gandhi himself had offered the entire governorship of India.

The founder of Pakistan, he was the executor to Allama Iqbal?s dream. He created a new nation - East and West Pakistan - a new identity and changed the political map of the world within ten years

Dr Iqbal was a renaissance man: a barrister, a philosopher, a writer and a politician. Impressed with the ideas of Nietzsche, he too was a believer in the ideas of the Super Human ? so much so that he once wrote that man should perfect himself to such a degree that even God consults him on his destiny.

How apt for him to use the tool of poetry to cajole the Muslim of his time, a Muslim who was no more than an impotent shell of his revolutionary past. Whatever I have understood of his poetry ? and I have not read much and understood even less - but whatever I have read, it disturbs, it awakens, it agitates, it frustrates.

What is surprising is that he never considered himself a poet but someone who had used the tool of poetry to reach to the Indian Muslim. And though his works jump from Urdu to Farsi, he himself could not understand Farsi.

Dr Iqbal and Jinnah started out on opposite sides. Jinnah was a staunch nationalist who believed that he was an Indian first, second and last. He believed in a United India or a federation of states working in an EU fashion. But after spending 36 years as the best Ambassador of Hindu-Muslim unity, he was severely disappointed by the policies of Nehru and the All India Congress. He left for Britain.

It was then that Iqbal and Jinnah chanced upon a meeting. The idea of Pakistan had, by then, been conceived. Iqbal convinced Jinnah to leave England and come back on their side. Jinnah agreed. Two years later, having handed the idea of Pakistan and the reigns of its movement to Jinnah, Iqbal died at the age of 61.

Pakistan was born on August 14 1947. Muhammed Ali Jinnah, Quaid-e-Azam, having fulfilled his destiny, died the next year of cancer.

Pakistan Zindabad.

Enigma,

Meray bhai, you really are an enigma! Before I launch a rocket called essay, let me just say that your post is as incomprehensible as the Sex Pistols to the deaf. It is as clear as the p!ss of a diabetic. And what's more, your points leave me more confused than a party of b@st@rds on Father's Day...

...more later when I have finished serving Viagra to this old man. Knowing the unpredictibility of drugs at his age, he'll probably get nothing more than a stiff neck....

"brought alive the ideal of pakistan"?!?!?! as if the bigshots of the congress and the british had no say in the matter. i now how much pakistanis love the Quaid-i Azam, but for the sake of intellectual integrity let's not exaggerate jinnah's achievements.

Allama Iqbal was a great man with both great vision and intellect.

Mr Jinnah should be seen more as the first Pakistani politician and thus was needed to be the representative on a national and international stage.

Therefore, what we have here are two great Pakistanis, who with their collective competences brought alive the ideal of Pakistani almost sixty years ago.

Benefits of the two-nation India theory?well ask the Muslim Gujaratis, Sikhs, Kashmiri?s, Christians and tribal folk from the northeast India the benefits??

Now that we have three nations from the original, two and we should be working towards an economic union of South Asia and reap the benefits, akin to countries of East and South East Asia. );

You are comparing two very different people. Jinnah was a too-many-faced, political opportunist. He isn't worth a speck of dust on Iqbal's feet.

What 36 years as "the best Ambassador of Hindu-Muslim unity"? With respect to Sarojini Naidu, whose words these are, how does the epithet apply to a man who from about 1928 espoused the most poisonous and virulent form of communal politics, the two nation theory, which resulted in carnage, death and over fifty years of diplomatic strife in South Asia?

And doesn't anyone know about Jinnah's shameful treatment of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad when the latter became head of the Congress? The invective he heaped upon Azad, calling him the ?showboy? of the Congress, and his refusal even to shake hands with him, indicates the depths of vulgarity in public behaviour to which this Quaid-i Azam plummeted. And you say he was the best ambassador of Hindu-Muslim unity? He couldn't even extend the hand of unity to a fellow Muslim!

In the end, Jinnah has only himself to blame for the demonisation of his public persona. The sooner Jinnah-philes snap out their obssession the better for their country. Honestly, it's like a schoolboy's infatuation with his French teacher.

The question you might be better of asking is this one. "Will the real Jinnah please stand up?"

That would depend. Which side of Jinnah do you want?
