Parineeta
Fab movie... u guys must go and watch check out the official website parineetathefilm.com
avas...hmm...i didnt know that...i just heard the tidbit about parinda on AVS...and accepted it as fact...but i believe you're right about mother india..
I LOVED THIS MOVIE..waited 3 months for it to come out on DVD and it was worth the wait..beautifully made, a little Devdasish, but def. a must see movie. Saifu was excellent. He is going to redeem himself with this movie.
vidhu vinodh chopra who's produced this movie is also the maker of one of my all time favs...Parinda...which btw...was the first Bollywood movie to enter in the Oscars nominations...in 1989....
you must chand_ni and make sure to watch it on DVD! There's so much beautiful detail to the movie that you just don't want to miss out on by watching a bad copy...
jade...im mesmerized by Vidya Balan myself. I agree with you about the end but the movie being a bit rushed but on a whole it is the best in 2005 thus far in my opinion. Some of the dialogue was amazing, it sticks to you..."yeh dhun tum nae likhee hae...nahea tagore kee hae stupid!" :)
"Jis kaam mein munafa na ho, wahan waqt barbaad nahee karna chahiye"
Ok...so im a bit obsessive...but it was seriously refreshing to see such a movie after such a long time...
I just saw Parineeta this weekend. Vidya Balan is mesmerizing and refreshing. It's so nice to see a serious new actress rather than the usual parade of half-dressed wannabes. While the performances were great, the screenplay could have been better. The ending is very anti-climatic and seemed rushed. But, on the whole it is definitely worth a watch.
The entire story results from a little misunderstanding between Vidya Balan and Saif's character that could've been cleared in a 5-minute conversation.
As for the much hyped up "period look to the city of Calcutta", there wasn't much of the city to be seen in the movie as most of the film was shot indoors.
All in all, it was stale wine in a fancy bottle.
i saw it last night, and loved to see that saif can act seriously too. overall very good tempo through out the movie, and sound tracks wonderful and one song "raat ki saheli" in swirling in my mind, cannot get over that song. great movie.

only one drawback..sanjay dutt looked DAMNNNNNNNNN OLD.. like their grandfather..good actor, but not suited for this role at all..
otherwise..i give it two thumbs up ;)
Suna, suna maan ka angaan..wow wat a song!
however, judging by this fairly positive feedback, will try try again!!!
