Passion and Profession - career counseling
Dear teachers and administrators,
My name is Asif Khan, and I am Doctor of Medicine here in New York City, in the field of Allergy and Immunology. I have been in practice now for 4 years. I am also the drummer for Johnny Hi-Fi, an Asian Brit-Pop/Rock band.
Our band is unique for a number of reasons. Johnny Hi-Fi consists of a Pakistani born drummer, a Chinese born singer, a female lead guitarist, and a Japanese born bassist.
Another distinct feature of our band is that we are also professionals in our respective fields, i.e. a physician, and 2 CEO's of internet companies.
I would like to propose an event/seminar which Johnny Hi-Fi has conducted now for a few years across the US, entitled Passion and Profession, designed to instill educate and motivate students.

The event would have multiple goals:
1) to promote diversity as our band includes a Pakistani-American, a Chinese-American and Japanese-American, and a woman. Our diversity could provide positive role models to all students.
2) to instill confidence and motivate young students who have artistic desires (music, art, acting, starting a family is a passion we've also heard from a student at one of our seminars LOL!...) to finish school as there is time to pursue a fun hobby or passion, and we are living examples. (one physician and 2 CEO's of internet companies. One of these companies, Inertia Beverage Group inertiabev.com) is a strategic partner with Microsoft)
3) to resolve fears of pursuing a career with an unresolved underlying passion
4) to calm and focus parental pressures placed on students to pursue a traditional career
5) career counseling on both mass and individual bases
6) to educate parents and foster sharing and participating in their children's desires
This would be a one-day event with activities including our trademarked Passion and Profession seminar, which includes a Q& A forum involving students, parents, administrators, and teachers. After this we conclude the evening with a Rock Concert.
