aNother question. If the Prophet had already banned mutta', then why was it necessary for Umar to restate such a ban? Umar's misogyny is well documented in many sources, and his lack of concern for women mannifests itself in many aspects of his life.
Instead of fighting about sources, it might be useful to ask why some people find mutta to be so distasteful? We might think about what purpose mutta might serve; it's advantages and disadvantages instead of thinking about it terms of sunni verses Shia.
Abubigbird, You might also want to note that Ibn Tamaymyyiah is extremely hostile to the ahl-lul-bayt point of view, so I am not sure that studying him would be particularly helpful in understanding the Shia perspective of mutta.
"Hence, this goes back to my original claim. Either side can prove their point in using their own sources."
Not sure why you're not getting this. Shias can prove mutah is permissible using some sunni sources as shown above. That is, there is a difference of opinion within the sunni ranks. That, in itself, doesn't give your case as much strength as you cannot prove that mutah is impermissible through shia sources. Hence, you would be better off trying to prove those sunni sources that permit mutah to be wrong, which is difficult as they are well-respected.
