Anyone can get a PMP certification. All it requires is a specific amount of formal project experience and passing the certification exam.

Can accountant get a PMP certification or is it restricted to engineers and architects.

It's been good. It's very well recognized, so if you want to pursue a career in project management, I would definitely recommend it. It does validate your work as a project manager.

I wrote my PMP exam in Dec 2003. From what I understand it was much easier back then. The new PMBOK is much longer and there is much more to study today.

That being said, the exam itself isn't tough, but you do have to basically memorize the PMBOK. Knowing the inputs and outputs for each phase of a project is key.

I liked the Rita Malkehi study guides(I don't remember the exact spelling of her name), but these texts were much more helpful than others.
